Why does it cost more to download an album on itunes than buying it and getting it delivered from amazon? It makes no sense.

Ash - 1977 is £5.70 from amazon delivered, but itunes want £8

and why do they charge 79p for most tracks but £1 for the popular ones. grrrrr I hate itunes

Thats called Vendor Lock in that is.

Most iDiots would just pay the extra £2.30 for the convenience of not having to wait and then rip the CD themselves and consider it a bargain.

I still prefer a CD to an MP3

more convient and put it in the car if want to.

HMV 2 for £10 makes it cheaper than amzaon again

not at all, nobody is forcing the purchase from iTunes. This is just market choice.

Nothing stopping you buying the CD from Amazon, having it delivered, importing the disc and transferring it to your iPhone/iPod/iAnything. Or you could buy it through iTunes now and listen to it immeadiately. Just personal choice I guess.

According to Google, Tesco are selling the same cd for £13.77. iTunes seems reasonably priced compared to that

Thats what I do tbh as I like the back up.

There is no incentive for people to buy their tunes rather than download them illegally when iTunes charge more for less.
They haven't gotta burn a cd, print the label, assemble the box, get to the store then sell it, so why aren't iTunes a LOT cheaper than CD's ???

I used to just torrent everything and if I really liked it I'd buy the CD.

I would download it from itunes now if it was a reasonable price, but they're just taking the pi55. It should be at least half the price of a CD

I hate buying music on the iTunes because of the DRM stuff it is infected with. I usually download music from the internet and if I get to listen to it more than a few times, will most likely order the CD because I like having hard copies of stuff which I enjoy. As a music manager and player and home distribution platform however, iTune works pretty well for me.

Its not fair to label people idiots just because they use a certain product, convenience costs money, many people use vending machines and pay 80p for a can of coke or eat fast food and pay extra for that. are they idiots?

When i spent 900quid on a windows laptop 4 years ago a colleague said that I wasted my money and was daft same again when i spent 1200quid on a camera lens. However he smoked 10-15 fags a day....

For the record i don't generally pay for music at all and have never purchased a song on itunes

At the end of the day some people enjoying boozing or smoking their money away, other enjoy spending huge lumps of cash on designer clothes just because they have a certain logo on them and other people like buying over priced music for the convenience.

They dont always. In fact I only buy things on itunes if it cheaper than buying it elsewhere and I still find myself buying alot of stuff on itunes.

I bought an album on Itunes last week. New Album by Elbow. Itunes it was £7.99, in Asda it was £9.99

Its like all things, shop around and you can always find it cheaper...

It was dropped over 2 years ago (Google says Jan 2009). Doesn't seem to stop some people still complaining that iTunes is DRM infected though.
