Sorry do it again...nope 1 more time...do it again!
Haha. There's a bunch o lads on the tuono forum that always type in Scots. Can get a bit confusing for the Sasenachs when Weegies, Brochs, Teuchters and Fifers all chat on the same thread. :-D

Ba'-janglers
Ahhhh its finally clicked. I was wondering about how strange the name Mabozzar was and just realised thanks to all this slang talk that his second name is meant to be Itchy.
Sorry for being a bit slow haha

It gives me a sore head trying to decipher it - and I live up here!
Up there with txt spk in the annoying stakes for me I'm afraid. Wear a kilt, eat haggis, play the bagpipes or be mordibly obese (joke, please don't hit me!) if you're that keen to affirm your Scottishness!
No offence like!

ayrshire has not got a patch on aberdoinan or fife lingo.
when i first came to fife i worked in a takeaway at nights and one bloke came in, started chatting away. i could not understand a feckin word he was saying. same with aber, worked there for a wee while and had a constant perplexed look on my face.

i think everyone has a bit of local slang which is ok if you stay in the same area all your life.
When i moved to Englandshire with my present job i had to start pronouncing my words properly as i was used to the slang i always used at home. When i first came back home after about 3 months my mates mum said i had turned very English!!!! wasn't happy with that.
Everyone at work could always tell when i had been home and been out drinking with my friends back home as the slang always started again on my return to Englandshire.
My kids are now picking up a wee bit of a Scottish accent which i am very happy about but not too sure if my English wife is!!!
i hate text speak as it takes me far too long to try and work out what someone is trying to say, same with some of Mabozza's posts it takes a while to read, but that is probably because i am getting old now!!!!
the Gm 4 boys..
I BEG YOUR PARDON!!!
We're not all BOYS!

"Fev Pehs an an ingin in an aw"
Duno, am a mix itween choochter an aberdonian.
Ats a shambles trying to git at.
It taks mare effirt fir me tae spik in slang ower a keiboawrd rather thin spikin in praper Sassenach.
Evin worse whan am blootered.
the weirdest i have ever come across is lalanders (borders) its like a cross between gaelic and english with a bit of feck knows what just to even confuse the part of your brain that was trying to decipher what they were saying. thankfully it is dying out with the very old ones.

Shame IMO, there's dialect all over Scotland that's dying out with the old folk. I love the way my grandparents spoke.
My gran & grandad were always using stuff like simmit, baffies, the morn's nicht, scunner, mince n' champit tatties, peely wally, skinny malink
"Get in that bathroom and scrub ahent yer clatty lugs!"
"Git back in that hoose the noo wi yer clatty feet! It's cauld n' drookit oot here. Ye'll catch yer death gaun out n' the gaerden barefit!"
When we were little my gran used to sing
"Aye, gee up ma cuddy, ma cuddy's ower the dyke, dinnie ye touch ma cuddy, or ma cuddy'll gie ye a bite" My mum sings it to my son now. :D

Get oot o it then! Naebudy asked ye tae come in, awa n $hite!;)
I have developed an interesting "Galloway Irish" accent from my years working in Stranraer now. I'm proud of being Scottish and I use all of the words like glaikit, dreich, clatty, etc etc etc. Mind you, most folk do around here so it's still going strong!
Awww, I love you too MBK.
That is me just guessing what you said :)

It said, what language is that you are speaking?
In fairness this thread is in SV Ecosse - you didn't have to come in, I know how much Scottish accents and speaking annoys you!
I'm not here to cause trouble dear, just adding my part ;)
I'll go! (happily ;)) and never grace your doors again!

Well I`m Welsh and have understood Mabozzar with no problems whatsoever . I even sussed his name as I had seen it before on Xbox Live , some guy was called MyBawzza ... I asked him if his second name was "Itchy" ? and got a great reply back . Terry Pratchett has done a book called "The Wee Free Men" and types in a similar style to Mabozzar and it took mere seconds to fall into line and read :)
