Hoping to do this this weekend. I'm happy with the route up, but route home seems a bit lame from Glasgow to home problem is I need to ride south east and all the roads run south west from Edinburgh. Any suggestions,

South out of Glasgow (b*llocks to Edinburgh) to Carluke then across to Peebles and Jedburgh, or a cheeky right at Selkirk down to Hawick. All roads lead to Carter Bar...

It's a bit all over the shop in terms of road numbers - A72/A71/A70/A721/A72/A707/A7 - but keep heading south east and you'll stumble over the A68 eventually :-)

I'm planning on doing this in one day ( tomorrows forecast is good) route there looks good, cuts out the boring bits, but misses out on dukes pass. I'll go with your local knowledge many thanks. Undecided about the route back as will mean the ride from around Jedburgh will be dark and a long day. Will put all three routes home in the sat nav + on a bit of paper will see how time goes. Thanks to Bibio and tiger 55
your keen m8. that amount of miles on scottish roads in one day. even i'm not that mad. as for the dukes.. its good but after doing that amount of miles you might be a bit weary so best not as it can be full of coaches and flat caps.

"full of coaches and flat caps." best kept for a weekday then. Know the road back to the M8 and A68 / A7 Castle Craig to home well. Will see how it goes, but if I'm all in, can always take the M74 / A69 or M8 / A1 home.
