We're not having a fire, but with fewer people and the field being pretty soggy the pub will be a good option both nights.

What's happening with hog roast?

Littlepeahead
07-06-12, 09:18 AM
It's a BBQ this year. Hog required minimum numbers of 75 and would have been near to £10 per person for pretty much a pork bap.

Oh that's understandable :) still yum yum BBQ

It's Thursday evening, the SV's in bits in the garage, and have just returned from rescuing Mrs Jambo who'd lost her wallet and keys again. I think I have a sleeping bag in the attic. The parts for the service I ordered from wemoto over a week ago are M.I.A, meaning I'll have to buy some parts as duplicates locally.

I haven't waterproofed the jacket in a while.

Situation normal for AR prep here then, how's everyone else doing?

I know it's vile out there at the moment but the forecast for this evening is much better and tomorrow is clear and dry. So tough it out, get your waterproofs on, and we'll see you later.

It's character building!

We'll look back on this and laugh... Probably.

Right now it's horrid. But I'm inside typing up the ICE's and Chris8886 is snoring away in the guest bed. Then again, we did stay up late last night eating pizza and drinking half decent fizz.

I plan to get there at about lunchtime. If anyone arrives earlier just set up in the long field which is right in front of you as you go through the gate. If you're not sure then call me on the emergency number or ask James the landlord. I'll collect camping money later.

There's a lanky Irish man on my sofa...fortunately off set by the lovey Gemma, back from site in one piece, bit knackered, but that's to be expected, put up tent in the dry, took down tent in the dry, didn't get rained on at anytime around the rideout route on the Saturday or in the evening (that I noticed), so bit of a result really, my own thanks to all those who put the effort in to make this year as good as we've come to expect.

delightful to see certain people there and they know who they are.

pics and video to follow as I get around to it.

We had fun on the Southend run too. More pies and hot donuts, I've morphed into Homer Simpson this weekend.

Now scoffing Stilton, crackers, horseradish and beet root relish with spring onions and a glass of wine, perfect.

As most of you know, I work at that genteel sporting venue called Lord's Cricket Ground, home of cricket, striped ties, a nice glass of vintage port, ladies in frocks, and polite applause even when it's the opposition doing well. Am I wise in inviting Dave Preston along for a match on Thursday evening?

If anyone wants any of the recipes for the cakes they are all from the Mary Berry Baking Bible, which is the best cake book on the market.

I made:

Chocolate Fudge Cake
Coffee Sponge Cake
Victoria Sponge
Crunchy Topped Lemon Cake
Cupcakes with butter icing
Cupcakes with glace icing

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mary-Berrys-Baking-Bible-Berry/dp/1846077850

Happy to send over the recipe if you had a favourite.

The cake toppers I ordered via ebay from Holly's Cake Toppers.

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/hollyscaketoppers

They also do brilliant large cake toppers made from your own photos printed onto icing. Here is Stuart's birthday cake last week.
