View Full Version : CBR1000 Fireblade
Afternoon all...
So when this orrible weather disappears I'm thinking about trading my sv650s for a 05' Fireblade. Now i realise this is a pretty big jump but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similiar experiance and what they found?... Was the power to much? the extra weight?... I'm taking it for testride ASAP...

Throttle goes both ways, it's a piece of **** to jump up. If you got on fine with the SV then you'll be fine. Except for perhaps the decreased enjoyment of riding a larger cc sportsbike.
I've had SVs and Blades and really enjoyed both. I found the Blade more comfortable and the power spread is good without being silly scary. If you can ride an SV you can ride a Blade easily IMHO. Enjoy 2 wheels mate, whatever they are. We are all bikers after all, just the choice of steed differs.

Ha I just saw this and thought, spikes looking for one of these. It's dan by the way mate.
I went from an SV to a Fireblade. The Blade is a much better bike in every respect. Get one, you wont regret it.
Having said that I did high side mine, maybe it wouldn't have happened on a less powerful bike.

Why on earth would you want a Honda?

I had a go on one, faster than you could ever reasonably need, very accessible power and smooth. Pretty good handling, stable. engine lets them down, despite the speed it feels like riding a laptop.

The 05 blade is so accessible. Really smooth, low down pull (like most 1000's) means your not screaming around and makes the power controllable. Steering is completely neutral, and its very comfy for long journeys. The electronic steering damper works well too. The K5 GSXR 1000 is more exciting though ;)

I dont know what I do to Handa's but they always break when I have had them.
My CRF leccy start has just stopped working, good job they give you a kick start. Need to fettle it.
Btw this is not the first Honda I have broken.
Hornet - battery, alternator and fuel switch
CBR - Reg/ Rec
All the other bikes I have had have been faultless.

i bought the 600rr and loved it. although its 70bhp ish less then blade it is lighter. But with the blade i guess you would get more lower end which is what you would want as 600rr has no lower and no mid.

was that pre 2008 600RR as they did beef up the mid-range and I think reduce top end bhp slightly.
I have ridden all CBR 600s and all Fireblade models since 2000 and all of the 600s are lacking in midrange, and all of the fireblades are silky smooth all the way to the red line, actually makes the blades much easier to ride, on twisty B roads just keep them in 4th or 5th and ride the torque.

Hardly surprising when one bike only has half an engine.
There's a lot to be said for smaller engines though - I used to have great fun on my RGV and if you think a CBR600 is a bit peaky, you ain't seen anything. 55bhp squeezed into a powerband about 1500rpm wide. A pain in the backside but immensely more rewarding to ride than a thou.
Agree with everything you said, just stating a fact.
