hey guys im new here. had my sv for 8 months now and has slowly become my baby lol had the TLR before and quickly found out the sv's so much more fun.

anyway i got home last night and everything was fine, just gone to the garage to fire her up and lots! of popping and banging. pluged in my carb tune and couldnt beleive how far out they are. about 8 bars ! ive checked the air lines ive check the boots ive checked the spark. there is a sucking noise coming from the front carb but cant see any leaks at all. ive had the carbs of and everything looks fine. have i missed something small or am i looking at a big problem. ive had bad carb issues before but nothing this bad

any advice would be greatly welcome

thanks guys

Is the air box sealed on the carb rubber properly

Split somewhere where you can't see

would help if we knew what version you have MK1 (carbed) or MK2 (injection)

inlet rubber, or loose spark plug.

don't know if a dropped jet would affect vacuum (carbed)?

curvy 2000 plate. ive checked the spark plug and checked the inlet rubbers. ive had the carbs off and everything looks fine. obviously its got no ram air system to complicate things so its fairly easy to check for leaks. im gonna go and have another pok around but im 95% sure theres no leaks

the rubbers that cover the inlet stubs on the carbs - are they in tact and both on??

is it the front carb that's reading high?

no its the rear. the bar on the carb tune is at its highest point and the front is about 2 bars from bottom. the choke seems to be playing up. when i put the choke on instead of reving faster the bike stalls. when i put the choke on a little the carb tune bar for the rear cyclinder drops a little.

ive disconected the choke from the carb, cleaned and reconnected and still not working.

just to recap ive checked the vacuum lines, rubber inlets, choke and every other pipe and wire connected to the carbs.

could the problem be inside the carbs and if so what might that be.

ive got to travel 110 miles to see the old girl tomorrow and really need to get this going.

cheers guys

as far as i know the rear carb vacuum has branch for petrol tap which is vacuum operated so have a good check at those pipes. even the slightest hole will draw air in.

I think mine has the same issues, rear carb have higer vaccum than the front carb, but if you close the carb inlet with your hand, the front sucks more than the rear, is this ok?
Well, the problem is that conecting rod seems to be to long(holes on both ends are elongated, years don't forgive), the rear carb is completely close, and the front doesn't close completly and when you are trying to close the rear carb winth the adjuster, what you are doing is opening the front.
I bended the rod to make it short... and now everything goes ok.

PD Sorry for my english, I'm from spain, and my english is not as good as i wish...
