after finally getting the bike taxed it all went a bit downhill. Firstly battery was dead. When partially charged I went to start the bike and it would turn over but not start.
Left the battery to fully charge.
Went to start the bike which turned and turned and turned some more. Just then it came alive. Unfortunately it started smoking quite heavily. Bear in mind it had its mot end of jan 2012. Started up march I think. and then til now.

The smoke dissapated and I shut the bike down. It had oil at the right level and coolant before i started it. Its done 8.5k and only 2.5 was in the last 2 years so not been ridden much. Typically had it booked in the dealers today for a rocker gasket recall work as it was weeping (common on 2007 bikes which they change when oil starts to leak). Could it be more serious. Have I knackerd it? Any help gratefully received. Cheers.

Engine temp of 59 degrees is much too cold to burn away condensation - unless you're going to run it 'til it's hot don't start it.
