I've got my PC monitor connected with a HDMI cable just now. I want my TV HDMI'd too so that I can have a dual monitor set up so I can drag over youtube etc to watch on the tv.

If I got a HDMI splitter would the pc recognise both monitors? Just now when I plug in the tv it knows it's a tv and sets the resolution etc and keeps the monitor as the primary display.

Also how do you send sound through the hdmi? When I have the tv connected the sound only comes on the pc speakers

Cheers :p

no a splitter wont work as you sending the same signal, you need a twin HDMI card. or use HDMI for TV and DVI for monitor and toggle between the two but both will display the same screen

you cant send analogue sound down HDMI so you have to have a monitor or TV capable of decoding the signal.

I had the monitor on DVI and the tv on HDMI before which worked and let me have them as dual displays. But the DVI cable was too short so I bought a long HDMI for the monitor. Oh well guess I'll buy a long DVI cable.

So is there no way for the video card to send digital sound?

For the record, when i attach my HDMI from my laptop to TV, sound comes from TV :)

As for the HDMI spiltter, as said, no it wont work.

And for the cabling cabling4less is a cracking place.

Use a DVI TO HDMI converter along with your existing HDMI cable for the monitor "you wont get sound to the monitor though"
and then use the normal HDMI for the TV.

The sound options should be under the mixer/sound options change the default device to use your card, what GFX card do you have ?

Ahh right got the sound through the tv now. I can only set the default device though. Can't seem to have both on at once.

This is the card http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-294-SP
