View Full Version : Roxter/Oxford heated grips. In case of any doubt.
My latest purchase. £38 delivered, new from ebay. Lovely (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROXTER-WINTER-MOTORCYCLE-MOTORBIKE-HOT-HEATED-BAR-GRIPS-/390129703475?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item5ad58ada33). I believe these have the latest controller as opposed to the one pictured in the advert (picture below is what I received).

Hi
Is the photograph in your post, from the seller, or what actually arrived? I am assuming they are Oxford, or identical to the Oxford Hot Grips. Is everything included as normal? Does it come with a mounting plate?
Cheers
H
The picture is of what arrived and the plate can be seen on the right. There's a link in my first post to the advert.
I should have made it clearer that Roxter is the same as Oxford stuff but branded differently. I'd always been slightly sceptical until the grips turned up. They say Roxter on the grips but came with the Oxford controller. The link to the eBay advert will make it a bit clearer.

The instructions that come with them should see you good as long as you are happy being linked up straight to the battery. I attached the control unit to the top yoke to the left of the ignition fwiw.
There is a illustrated/photo fitting guide somewhere (on this site i think) for oxford grips that is almost identical. These grips claim to turn themselves off if you leave them on and the battery charge gets low. This should avoid a dead battery. I can vouch for the fact that, certainly when it's v cold, they do switch off but there may not be enough charge left to start the bike! I can also vouch for the fact that bump starting on a damp frosty evening is bl#%dy impossible on bald oem tyres and the effort required in trying may make you vomit!
rigging up a simple SPST relay to the sidelight circuit will make sure that they off when ignition is off.

They'll do the job nicely. Dont know about using the 'superglue' to fit them to the bars though. Ive got renthal rubber glue (will the heat from these make it lose its tactility?)
How strange that we got different controllers!

As long as it works. You got them fitted yet?
No. I've tested them and they work fine.

Im not sure about using superglue to fit then!
I'm just going to use the glue supplied. I can only assume its the best stuff for the job.
