HI all, New to biking have an w reg sv 650s and there is a strange knocking noise from the front of the bike in 2,3 gear around 20 - 30 mph. I had a mate who knows about bikes have a look for me and it seems fine. He can not take the bike out for a test ride as he came off on a track day and has broken ankles:( any help or advice where and how to check would be nice thanks.
oh when i pull clutch in the noise stops!!!

Stiff link on the chain. Check, lube, retry if that doesn't solve the issue check for the link and either replace link or whole chain.
As for the pulling clutch that will be as there is no load on the chain.

Mine is doing the same, it's a T reg curvy, I know it's the chain though I haven't lubed it in ages. Will be doing that tonight.

Bear in mind guys if the link is already stiff you are very unlikely to free it with lude, replacement is unfortunetly the answer.

Whats the long term damage and whats the score on using the bike?? Is it a safety issue

Mine tends to go away after a good clean and lube, I really should do it more often but that's me being lazy, I'm pretty sure mine is due for replacement anyway, I've had the bike 18months and done 10,000 miles in all weather, god know how many previous owner did on same chain and sproks.
