OK just thinking, but a logo or badge for the GM would be good, any suggestions would be good, as to whether it should be a sticker for the bike or a flash for the leathers, either or is fine by me but would make IDing people at meets easier, I know it sounds a bit Harley blah, blah, but as I said would make ID's at rideouts easier, any and all comments welcome!!!!!:p

A sticker for the bike would be better, I think. People change their leathers depending on the weather and probably wouldn't want to stick/sew something on. Something on the bike, like a small sticker in the same general place (i.e. specify it has to go on the tank or something) would make it easy to identify. Then you can peruse the bikes as you do at bike cafes, and if you spot the sticker on the tank, you can prepare an ambush for when the owner returns. Think perhaps an ORG sticker/logo would make more sense though, rather than just GM.

@Dan - Nice addition of a vein. Good attention to detail.

Or just be organised enough to actually be where you said you were going to be at the time you said you were going to be there.

Most meets fail due to being late or being in the wrong carpark.

If you label the bike you'll still not find people when they wonder off. Ff you label the leathers, not only do you have to have one per set of kit but you also have to go round checking out the bums of all the bikers as I assume we'd be sticking the patches on the crotch area.

SV650.org used to have a nice swing-arm sticker. I used to have one on my 650. Don't know if they are still available. Doesn't really need to be GM specific.

Another fairly simple option is to list bike type/colour alongside your name that seemed to work quite well when I organised my little jaunt the other week when we had a few folks who were unknown to others.

Some folks have forum address and ID on the bottom of their numberplate too.

I think the Forum name on the No' plate is a good idea.:smt064

Thanks for the input Bordtea, I shall get that made and stick it on my helmet!;)

We could all get hats?

Big conical ones so people can spot is from a distance.

It's not that it's a bad idea, it's just we all lack imagination in how to implement it.

I have my forum name on the no plate on the sv and it has been spotted a few times down poole quay, whether this was because of the plate or because it was plastered all over here I don't know.... but as said it didn't do much good as I'd wandered off

surely swapping numbers makes more sense, ieasier to get hold of people and find out where they are. I think we pretty much know what we all ride now

It would also work well against people sitting down in long grass behind loads of bikes when they're been looked for

or people being late, and standing next to a sign where a bunc of other people are ;)

sounds like a plan, just post your pillions number on here. :p

but then me and wideboy have to ride 8 miles in the wrong direction.

As Spank has said, its not really central for anyone, I also have to ride past the road I would take to Loomies. So its backwards. Much better to meet at a location-Loomies or where ever it maybe. Last time I went on a ride with Nath and Si, i met Nath near to where I am and we picked up Si on the way. Or we would have all driven in the opposite direction 1st

It's really not that hard. Most of us now recognise most of us. However if you are meeting someone new somewhere busy, something like this works ...

09:00 for 09:30 departure at Oatsheaf =
Mark H Silver SV1000
ThunderAce Red and White Thunderace + mate Speed triple
Tomor Shiny yellow SV650
Sandman Black and white Blade

Then off to Alton Station by the cafe 10:00 to collect
Spank86 Guessing another Speed Triple going by picture.

Then off into the randomness of a mystery ride.

Or first people to get there establish a base-camp and update the forum accordingly. If someone doesn't have enough about them to find you do you really want them on your ride anyway?

My own experience speaking - when I went to my very first bike club event (in the days before the internet and way before mobile phones) I spotted a club patch on someone's leathers which lead me to the right group of people. Don't give up on the idea.

Fallout

I agree with Sir Trev. It's definitely not necessary, but it would be an added extra to make things easier. I know if I saw an SV parked up and I knew we had a bike sticker system of something, I'd take a ganders. If it had the sticker on, I'd keep an eye out for the owner to return.

I don't think there's any sort of complicated meeting problem we need to resolve. It's not rocket science. We are capable of meeting up without a sticker/patch/numberplate forum name, but I still think it's a sound idea to make random chance meetings easier.

Last time I went on a ride with Nath and Si, i met Nath near to where I am and we picked up Si on the way. Or we would have all driven in the opposite direction 1st

That was an awesome route too. Must do it again before the summer is out.

Or the layby up the road a few meters. Never more than a couple of bikes there, even when loomies is rambo baggins.

that was the plan last wednesday, but everyone seemed to forget to stay with their bikes... to be fair it wouldn't have worked as everyone arrived within an hour time frame

swapping numbers is the better idea

also i think pink man thongs and nipple tassels, surely that out-gheys the local "chapters" who arrive.

Seemed a good idea at the time. At least it's a patriotic way to add character to the paintwork.

I think the rider and bike need to be noticed, what i propose is that the rider wear these (http://www.annsummers.com/p/lace-top-fishnet-stocking-suspenders/04skssas1079044) and have this (http://www.annsummers.com/p/rampant-rabbit-the-thrusting-one/07scnras1077019) on the bike, although the reviews don't look so good

Will certainly make us into a scary bunch of bikers, although not neccesarily for the right reasons!
