I'm no fitness guru but as you do 3 hours mountain biking do a bit more running and see how things go.
Sound like your very fit to start with, would do more running and also get a rucksack with some weight in and wear that................ the speed march is a killer at the end of basic training. Well it was 24yrs ago!!!!!!!
p.s dont forget you will be carrying a rifle as well so may be practice running while carrying something.... it all zaps energy :)
Cheers :D will start jogging on monday :-)
I did basic at Lichfield for Royal Signals but had to discharge for medical reasons. Cardio is the number one king for training, then upper body strength. Not sure if we had a sadistic PT (aren't they all???) but he made us relay run every single line in the hall (you know the coloured lines that mark out different games areas) one at a time until they were all done. They do lots of circuit training, sit ups, push ups, step ups, and squat jumps so you should be ok there. Once in, they do a regular fitness test which involves a 1.5 mile run, which they expect you to do faster than selection, also carry two full 20 litre jerry cans twenty meters and back, plus press-ups at some point. Also if you were an Army Cadet, try not to mention it too much as they send you off to one side when teaching some basics to raw recruits. My weapons training in cadets helped big time as most people have never held a gun before. Number one rule, if they ask you to do something, do it sharpish. Don't bimble or you will regret it. But once out of basic then the crappy stuff like that stops. What area of the Army are you going in to?

also carry two full 20 litre jerry cans twenty meters and back,
In that case I can recommend starting playing with boats. When you've filled a 600 liter tank up 4 jerrycans at a time at low tide you'll p*ss that one! :p

My brother is in 12 Battery RA at Thorney Island.
