Save your money and jump infront of a bus if you want to die------------EEJIT statement
You might not be afraid of dying but what about the feelings of your parents and people who know you and have to deal with the aftermath
What people are about to spend time typing:
"useful balanced stuff"
What the OP is likely to take from it:
"Whatever he wants to"
For that reason, I'm out ;)

Lol Joe you do know how to phrase things in the absolute possible worst way to get a decent response from folk.
Thing is Jo you could crash into a mate your girl ,
Or me.
Then you might not die but be paralysed .
Get a track bike and win moto gp for us.
Speed is a kick. But use it in an appropriate place.

Actually Joe ignore them all, do what you want.
I have a friend who bought an R1 as her first bike 2 weeks after passing her test. We all enjoyed riding behind her as she has a very tidy back end. But you learned in the twisties to get past her as she couldn't ride. Her husband on his R6 (passed his test two years into her riding) was passing her on most bends. bloody annoying though on the straights when she would loon passed you.
She as a poor rider on powerful bike never crashed or came off, why do people assume power will lead to disaster? Although she rode to her ability and when she sold the bike she was a far better rider than the first time she wobbled upto my house to show off her new pride and joy.
Take from the above what you will. Life is to be enjoyed, but don't let bravado get in the way of that enjoyment.

Haha not one good or bad thing about hayabusa then ? Haha .
Any bikes as fast as you make it . Its all in the right hand .
I understand my family but its speed i love . Hayabusa is fairly stable in a straight line at speed . Ive always wanted one . I wouldnt speed for ges to get used to the lorry bike
Haha I love it, every place possible, no matter where...everyone will tell you that you're guaranteed to die on anything remotely fast.
Go for it, life's for living and I'm sure 70mph on a Hayabusa is the same as 70mph on an SV. It's pretty obvious that you're not going to open it full throttle on a bend in the snow outside a primary school where children are building snowmen in the road.
Have fun on it when you get one!

They're batsh*t fast, but equally a comfy (ish) sports tourer that handles better than you'd expect.
Has lots of power, can be heavy on fuel and consumables if you abuse it.
Spank86
10-12-12, 12:36 PM
You can do crazy speeds and kill yourself on a 250 two stroke, anything after that doesn't matter as long as you've got the bulk to handle it.

10-12-12, 12:41 PM
Ok, I'll add my thoughts about it, not about you buying one.
Its a big heavy bike, built for speed, not going round bends
From what I've read, its brakes aren't great for such a fast bike, yes they'll stop you
It'll eat tyres if you use the throttle as you're planning to, plus petrol
It'll give you lots of points on your licence if you use it like you're planning too :p
There's not a lot wrong with the bike itself, they don't go bang, because no one can use the power on tap on UK roads

I wont look at the £4k turbo kits ;. Maybe year after, joke !
I think there really nice bikes tbh, im not fussed about doing speeding where, just when a skyline wants to race on motorway then i will lol
yorkie_chris
10-12-12, 12:43 PM
The brakes are ye olde tokico 6 pots, they do stop you but are a bit of a maintenance b*tch.
If an SV isn't fast enough, neither is one of these.
I'm just going to leave this here. (http://www.tts-performance.co.uk/companyprofile.html)
Brakes are the same Tokico 6 pots that go on the 98-02 ZX6R, and the 99-00 GSXR 750. They require careful maintenance to keep working at their best, and the caliper bodies wear. Cheap brake pads accelerate this.

I love the seat hump
The end of the day.if you like the thing get one. Deff test ride it first . If you gell then your be having fun.
Don't be distracted by the amount of power you have. If its gona be your only bike will it do all the roles you need?
If you don't mind 600 s kicking your but round the twisties then your be fine. You only have to wait for a straight;)

Amen brother!
Never ridden the Busa' but apparently the Ace should be having 600 blast past in the twisties? Met a couple that can and many, many more that can't!
@Spank86, yes you're one of the ones that can!;)
go for it Joe but TBH i think it will scare the smelly stuff out of you.
one good thing about a busa is you know its not been ragged.
I know the feeling of wanting to just have the grunt to smoke anyone you see on the road. I passed a v6 clio casually on my way to work on the A127 and then moved back into the left lane. A few minutes later hes blasted past about 100mph and got in front of me. I took the next junction as usual and just laughed about it.
I know its annoying, but you dont have to prove anything to anyone.
Having said that, I did want to overtake him, so get the busa, and overtake him please.

You are what peoples of the internet world call a troll....
Your daft to make a statement like this and you dont appear to have learnt enough whilst riding to progress on to anything bigger or scarier.
A busa is a brilliant bike but the rider needs to be either fat or fairly strong, my impression of you is neither of those.

Hold up buddy---one minute you are talking about sensible riding next minute about flying past things and not caring about how fast you go.
So now tell us you are going to ride a 180-200mph machine at near legal limits.
Somebody suggested earlier that you take up track riding which is a good idea as it will learn you your capabilities and on a plus side they have medical aid in attendance

You're right... In a straight line.
i'm sure i saw this on a joke site today
By the sounds of it you struggled to learn and behave on a restricted SV, let alone a machine with twice the CC and over twice the power.
If your getting it in Feb, bring it alone to the big ride out next year. Will be fun to see what its like
Its my life, and i'll do what i want !....
Joe, sounds like there's something else you and your right hand might be good at. And with that you can do it as fast as you like.
Thank god you don't live anywhere near me or my family. Get a grip and grow up.

Has anyone actually ridden one, to give the fella advice?
Joe, don't bother. The Busa isn't the sort of bike an inexperienced rider should be going for. It's for a certain sort of rider. We've the ZZR14 and it was ridden back to back with the Busa before taking the choice.
Both....are men's bikes. Not for little boys. I've ridden the ZZR, and feck me, I'm more than capable, and in my humble opinion, more than capable of riding the other.
You'd be dead in a day. The reason the insurance is high I'd because people a lot older and wiser ride them. We've just renewed the insurance on the Z, and that would have been cheaper than 200 quid had the OH been a few years older than 42.
Haha okay you're winding us up. I hope no anti bike toffs are reading this.

I have not ridden a `busa but I have ridden the GSX1400 which shares a similar engine . The thing was very deceptive and a few orgers here have witnessed this very bike at the hands of an old mate of mine . I very nearly got into trouble ..... actually , I got into trouble on it grabbing a handful coming out of a wet roundabout . Before you know it the back end is lit up and it`s trying to throw you off . Most on here have read the story and how lucky I was to actually cling on for dear life and not eat a massive plate of shat in the process . I have also ridden the Super Blackbird owned by the same feller , it was sold to Stretchie and I think Squirrel Hunter has use of it as well . I am not going into details on a public forum about what that bike could do .... but it did it well and lots of it . The rambling point to this is that both bikes were powerful , both had different handling characteristics , both have the potential to go vast distances in little time and from the fuel consumption I found myself thinking "yeah , power is great and all that , but i cannot afford this on a daily basis" . You can afford the Monthly Insurance premiums ? especially when they also whack on extra for the credit agreement , then you have to fuel that up . The thing will be a Millstone around your neck , financially . Personally , feed your greed , get it out of your system .... go for a test ride on a HyperSports bike , try and get an all dayer .... and watch that fuel gauge . Be prepared to spend the rest of your life living on 9p Aldi Noodles .

And another valid point , how many of us actually listened to advice on bikes from blokes in Motorhead T shirts with Beer Bellies and Egg Stains on the front ?
When I wanted to get faster bikes and had warnings , I cannot even remember the amount of people who told me not to , I just wanted to do it and screw anyone who told me not to . What actually stopped me was financial reasons , life , enthusiasm never dwindled , the goals just became more realistic .
But woe betide anyone that offers me the keys , cos I`ll take your fingers off , not listen to any advice you give me about your bike and will be giggling like a t1t and will be 18 again . The point being ....... if it`s something you want to do , your gonna find a way to do it . That`s human nature people , brow beating someone and telling them they shouldn`t do it because we know better very rarely comes to fruition . Hopefully , those that don`t listen , get to reach our age and dish out advice to a new breed that don`t want to listen . And the reason you get annoyed with it ? ..... because we have all done something similar in our dreams to some extent .
I know I have .

theres a big difference between full hammer, and what you described as its full potential

Flymo races minitwins, I'd guess he's a wee bit faster than you and that you're talking about a different sort of potential.
"Full potential" does not mean, IMO, giving it rock all occasionally, which I suspect is what you mean.

To be honest, I don't think "they be hatin" if you haven't been so arrogant don't think people would be too bothered about you wanting to get a 'busa. IMO 'busas are too much for anyone. Don't think there's much need to exceed 600. Only reason I would us so I can say I have a litre bike. But no need for anything over 600 unless you go on track, which by the sounds of it, you don't.
I have no hate towards you at all. I do believe that the 'full potential' of that bike very likely exceeds what you have extracted from it though. Not trying to compare your riding with mine, but I do have a fair idea of what is possible with it hence the comments. I've raced 'em for years and don't think I have reached its full potential.
A Busa needs to be treated with respect, as do the other people you are likely to put at risk on and around the roads. Nothing wrong with wanting to try out such a bike, but please don't do it recklessly unless you can do it in a way that you are the only person at risk. A friend of mine nearly died as a result of somebody giving it a quick 100m blast.
You don't have to be the muts nuts to ride any performance bike.
Iv an RSVR don't use any were near its potential.
My reactions and motor skill not what it was in my 20's
I still enjoy it .occasional nail it to its stop. Ride it in the pouring rain and I'm still hear.
If you want it Jo get it. Your a long time dead . Just be sensible and enjoy .

I dunno, 600s can be a bit buzzy, gutless at the bottom end and generally a bit of hard work.
The busa OTOH has absolutely masses of grunt right from the bottom and you can quite happily pootle about, or get a massive shift on without any Fred Astair antics on the gear lever at all. A very very capable and "easy" sports tourer.
However they can go absolutely ballistic when given (in)appropriate amounts of rice. :-D
There again, "unless you go on a track"... you're probably more likely to have fun on a 600 on track than on a thou (the busa isn't at home on a track, but it can do it).
Try a few laps on an R1... the bits where you would be giggling, you'll be leaving a brown streak of terror.
Fine you don't "need" any more than a 600, but in that case why do you own an SV650 and not say a GS500 or a dullville?

I own a 650 because I'm on the A2 liscense meaning its restricted, the sv is probably one of the best bike to have restricted. Almost all of the power is in the low end of the revs therefore not effected by the throttle stop I have on to restrict. And before anyone say why don't you Just take it our is because I would rather keep it in as I am still on a large learning curve of riding, I have not once said I'm the dogs b0llocks at riding, I don't think I'm great, just reasonable. I'm not trying to have a pop at this person wanting to buy a Busa, was just putting my point across like some many people do on this org.

Go and ride in some mountains somewhere on your SV then come back and say u want a Busa. You obviously dont know how to ride if you have done 23k miles and you still haven't figured out the fun is in the bends. I hope i never meet you!

So is anybody actually going to offer Joe some useful advice in what to look for in buying a used Busa ?
Or are you all going to continue to take pot shots at him as part of some moral crusade to tell hm what to do with his own money and how to live his life ?
In short, if you can something useful or constructive, then perhaps saying nothing at all might be the best course of action.
