Hi all

I fitted a new link pipe to my car at the weekend. This is the pipe between cat and silencer.

The pipe I got for the job was about a foot too long, so I cut it down and unfortunatley cut it a bit too short! Where the pipe overlaps the existing pipe, it used to be about an inch judging by the marks on it. Now it is half that. I clamped it as is and it seems OK, but obviously isn't as secure as it should be.

My options seem to be:

Fit one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exhaust-repair-pipe-kit-55mm-Repair-your-Mufflers-Silencer-Box-Down-PIPE-Flexi-/170980214212?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27cf3705c4
Buy another pipe (not expensive but I don't want to do this is I can help it)
Weld some lugs on and fit springs.
I don't have a welder so I wonder if I could fit a pair of jubilee clips around the pipes and hang springs off that? Would that slip? Or is there a suitable product already existing. If there is I can't find it.

I would rather make what I've got more secure than start again!

If you've made it this far, thanks for reading. Is there anything I haven't considered?

See if you buy a sleeve to cover he joint and pack it with exhaust paste! New section wold be best though as the exhaust paste would blow through eventually
