Grab rail paint destroyed by salt!

The winter has made the paint on my grab rail peel off in large chunks. Has anyone got an economical solution to paying £45 for the numerous cans of primer, base, colour, laquer, etc. that I presume it will need. It's pretty bad now and I'd like to do something before the next salt assault takes place. Any ideas gratefully accepted! :(

Thanks Nikon, done that with the rest of the digs, dinks and scratches on the bike. Risk looking like a wannabee TT rider, er, which I am definitely not! Thanks for suggestion, may have to lash out on paint (if that's still legal?).

There must be some rubberised paint that would do the job.
