can't make it bigger. And I can't hire people to do the work that the couple do, for the amount I expect that they make.

My boss had heavy involvement with all three of those restaurants and I ride with Mr A J himself.

I'm sure they'd be happy to help me in a purely advisory capacity. (Cough)

Will only work if you can hire people to do the work that the couple do, for less then the net profit of loomies. Yeah its possible, but (as per my estimates) I don't think it's likely.

The first thing I'd do is try and get the costs down. I'd shop around the suppliers, get some deals on the go. I'd ditch the **** on the menu nobody ever orders so I don't have stock I'm not using. And I'd make a breakfast that's reasonably portioned and not £8 a pop!

I think if there was a £5.99 basic breakfast with a coffee, more people would eat.

I would also be trying to increase footfall and thus increase turnover. I'd be contacting local bike dealers and getting them to do demo days. I'd ask for those big ass banners to give them some advertising in return for referrals.

I have lots of ideas and would shamelessly steal them from you guys if I went ahead and bought it.

I only went to one bank to ask for the cash. There are many more.

Considered making them an offer on the lease? While it's empty it's not earning them money.
If you did, i'd certainly be over occasionally for a bacon sandwich or breakfast.

Also, you're talking as though you're not going to do anything. Do everything suggested in this thread and you'll be rolling.

for one you cant do everything suggested in this thread, for another you probably wouldn't want to.

Interesting how you all assume it'd be a crap business and they're probably getting out because they're struggling.

Have you considered that they are getting out because you lot have of the GM have made their lives miserable for the last few years and they've got to breaking point? :smt072

for one you cant do everything suggested in this thread, for another you probably wouldn't want to.

Frankly, if it's Matt wearing the bikini to wash down the bikes I think it's better if he doesn't progress that idea, however good it was when I originally suggested it.

If, after some discussions with friends with a lot more experience than me, I still decide I want to buy. I will make an offer to Jane and Leon and start negotiations.

If/when that happens, I'll give you guys some updates.

Matt if your that hell bent on running a biker cafe. The manor cafe outside of Leeds is forsale as a freehold.

The downside is you'd need a minimum of £2.5 million in capital to buy it!!

The rule of thumb with cafe/ bar/ restaurants is it's a 100% mark-up on everything. Profit target is around 80% of your mark -up (cooks/ chefs time is in the base cost)
The profit left then pays the utilities, rates, tax, services.

May have been worth checking this out before going to your bank and posting a dull and ultimatley pointless thread? :rolleyes:
