Got a bit of a leak on my 650sy either from the output shaft oil seal or from the clutch push rod oil seal. Haven't had a chance to determine which yet.

Are both/either of these replaceable without a major dismantling? I seem to recall the output shaft seal can be levered out and replaced once the front sprocket is off the bike. Am I right on this?

What about the push rod seal? On which side of the engine is this? I have a suspicion that it's behind the clutch, so clutch off?

Cheers....

Hi Gary,

Worth checking the front sprocket is tight, you sometimes get a leak there if the sprocket's come a bit loose.

Once you've done that clean the whole area up with paraffin or something and go for a ride, use a pit of talc powder if needed to see where the oil is coming from.

Also worth cheching the crankcase breather pipes(2)are still properly in place. One of them can blow oil out in that area.
