I'm trying to decide between a dark visor or a dark pinlock and was wandering if anyone has used copy Arai visors like these:

Good, bad, unsafe?

Thanks.

I've just wrestled with this one as I have an older Viper GT, and just got hold of a Chaser V, which of course uses a different visor system (naturally I didn't check that first).

In the end I just plummed for a new tinted visor & pinlock from racevisors.co.uk. The knock-off ones may well be fine, but this way I've got an easy come back if it's not spot on. Turned up a day later and fits fine. It's very tempting to give the cheaper ones a go OE visors cost a fair bit!

I think I'll just go for a dark pinlock insert, £15 for a genuine one and it's probably as easy to swap inserts as it is to swap visor.

Someone can quickly tell me if I'm wrong but if you'd are using one visor aren't you meant to put the one pinlock in and leave it in. If you start taking them on and off the seal quickly goes rendering them useless and they scratch really easily too. Plus if you lose a pin you have to put up with high pitched whistling until you can get a replacement and they are stupidly expensive for what they are.

Swapping pinlock doesn't work, the seal buggers up after a while.
I have dark, clear and amber visors, all with clear pinlocks. Clear visor with dark pillock worked ok.

Never tried copy visors, interested to hear if they are ok.

Just bought a dark db screen from China for £8 and it is as good as oem on! 😀

Ah I didn't think regular swapping would be a problem. I'll go for a budget copy then and see what it's like. The sun doesn't shine enough to spend £45 on a genuine one...

I've a copy aria visor.
I used it to fix a hole in the greenhouse.
Fitted better there than it did on the lid....

Glad you got some use out of it!

I could send you a copy iridium - couldn't get it to fit my helmet. Broke a pod too so actually worse than useless.

See, Stu had the same.
C'ept I wasn't going to push my luck.
Custom side pod!

OK, so no positive reviews on cheap copies, I find the genuine ones hard enough to remove and refit. A genuine one costs half a trackday so I'll stick with sunglasses for now.

Just snapped one of my side holders, not happy, cost me £30 to buy a new pair :-(, at least i could still get hold of a pair in correct paint scheme.
