More goodies got today, bagged some gen 2 (lighter) rods, and a set of 4 'busa pistons. these combined with the lightened flywheel, balanced and shotpeened crank (rods will be done too) and gen 2 cams should make for a nice rev happy motor that'll laugh at abuse.
Famous last words an' all that......

Glad I found this thread. Good, now I don't feel so stupid. I started a build from the ground up too. I started at the beginning of the month. I'm not moving near as fast as you. I didn't want to do a bobber Arkansas has plenty, and I really like the SVs. I'm gonna start a build thread too. Thanks for the motivation man.

The damage to the fins on the rad from just simple rides was startling, hence the cover.

There's plenty of places that will knock you up a plain heavy duty mesh rad guard.

Won't even really be noticeable but will provide decent protection to the fins.

Waiting for various bits atm so just been doing little bits. Firstly when putti g the engine in (by myself) i noticed its hard not to hit the swingarm with the rear exhaust so i ordered some carbon/kevlar sheet and wraped it around the area to protect it, secondly, the öhlins stickers that came with my ftont springs pretty much bang on match the blue paintwork. So on they went :D

Yay! progress on a build. Looks beautiful like a Raadking, looks bigger than it actually is. At least someone here is moving along. I took a few steps back on my build, my lower triple is bent causing the wheel to be crooked. Had to order another one. That'll be my third triple... my triple triple. At least you're keeping me motivated.

Ask any artist, blue and red works well together, they are opposites on the colour chart. :jocolor:
One question, what is the expected longevity of an aluminium rear sprocket?

Can't imagine aluminium sprockets lasting anywhere near as long as steel but I suppose it give you a good excuse play around with chain and sprocket combinations

Hi guys, thought i'd update, didnt touch her through the whole of december due to crimbo etc.
Had her transported to my mates bodyshop a few days ago and went down this morning for a few hours to try and make a start on the 848 rear end.
All went well, in 4 hours I'd measured, cut, and tacked the Duke subframe in place. Just need to fab the RHS lower mount and tack it on now. Then i can take it off and properly weld and gusset the joints.
Some pics.

Hi guys, little update, been working on tbe bike the past week, fabracating mounts on the 848 tail, plus upper and lower mounts for the KTM headlight unit and koso clocks. Also had to re-profile the rear of the tank to suit the deeper curve of the ducati seat. Subframe is painted and fittedn the panels are all prepped and primed reDy for paint this week.
A few pics.

Just managed to bag a brand new (100 miles) set of underseat cans from an 848, for the piffling sum of 68 quid. So she might end up with a set of those :D
