Actually got my son away from his PS4 and outside doing something active! Good to spend some time with him. He's definitely become more of a teenager recently and I feel like I've hardly seen away from a screen / phone.

Also got the sprockets swapped for different gearing on the CRF250L.

Finally got round to uploading a few pics from last weekend's trip to Brighton to see the Monkey. Our hotel was very near the bohemian area of London Road and some of the graffiti art is quite good and some of it is absolutely amazing. In the first two below the images were realistic enough for the auto-focus in my Sony to lock on to the eye!
The mix of styles in this bit was great. A Simpsons'esque Joker and the amazing painting of this lady (I have no idea if I should know who it is...)

Shame I didn't have a bit more time to wander around and find some more of these gems. There are so many of them and thankfully some of them have not been defaced by morons.
Nice shots. If you're ever in Birmingham visit the custard factory area, there's a lot of this.

I'll put it on my list. Brum is easy for me to get to as it's straight up the Chiltern mainline from Wycombe to Moor Street. Assuming I can pluck up the courage to get on a train again that is...
Been going through my photos of the Bike trip in the Highlands recently. Planning on going back soon to do what i didn't get to finish this visit.

i wasn't a fan at first, but it has grown on me. My 1st F800, first generation was Graphite. I really liked that colour as it suited the bike really well.

Got up early and gave myself half a day off to head into the Cotwsolds and find the Charlbury TT route that a few people have mentioned recently. A bit underwhelmed by it really... some of it was good roads although slightly ruined by loads of traffic and loads of temporary road works everywhere. Not a day to be queuing at numerous very slow temporary lights baking in full kit sitting on top of a hot bike in 30 degree heat!
Not sure I'd make the journey to do the route again. I did find a great little deli / cafe in Charlbury though. A co-op paid for by 8,000 shares being bought by local residents to keep it afloat a while back. Amazing brownies, coffee and the highlight of my day, a cappucino millionaires shortbread. Made the trip worthwhile.
I think I'll stick to heading over the Severn bridge into Wales next time though.

Bits of the Cotswolds are lovely but as you've experienced a lot of its chocolate box charm does draw in a lot of ignorant and rude drivers as everyone flocks to Broadway, or Stowe on the Wold, or Bourton on the Water... Avoid places like that and it's a nice place to ride around.

This was the route. I actually found a lot of the scenery a bit monotonous. Pretty villages but nothing breathtaking in terms of scenery.

Out picking blackberries on the CRF. Up the Fosse Way. You can reach a lot further into the bushes when you're protected by bike kit. Didn't stop my hands gettting scratched to bits. Also didn't protect me from the lecture from a hoity toity woman up a horse who has never seen a motorbike on the byway so thinks they're not allowed. I assured her it as all checked out and mapped and classed as a "BOAT", but turns out she just wanted to give someone a condescending lecture and is convinced that if she thinks something then it must be law.
I was very pleasant about the whole thing and tried not to react. The whole reason she was even able to talk to me is that I try to be as courteous as possible and always stop and kill my engine to let horses pass. I soon realised that everything she said was laced with anti bike predjudice. In her eyes I was probably just another one of those Hell's Angels.... out picking blackberries.
Still had a good morning out though. Being able to get away onto remote paths away from everyone the last few months has been perfect. Very glad I've got the CRF. Still loads of fun on the roads too.

I wanted to tell her that I'd never seen a horse go through that particular bit, but that doesn't make me think it's illegal or justification for me giving her a lecture (as she was suggesting with motorcycles as she'd never seen another go through). But I kept it civil as it does no good in the long run to wind these people up. Just makes them start campaigns to stamp out the local menace of motorcycles and petition councils to close routes.
I've had it happen standing outside a nature reserve with my mountain bike before too. I had no intention of going in and just stopped as I was passing looking for spots to take the dog for a walk in future. I got a full on lecture about the evil people like me who tear up the nature reserve skidding about. I was less reserved that time as the guy launched a full on tirade at me with no provocation at all.

If you watch any of the cops-with-cameras shows on TV you get at least one drunk, knuckle-dragging, bad haircut'd, clearly ignorant/high/plastered imbecile telling the Rozzer arresting them what the law is, what they're entitled to do, and/or how they're right and the plod is wrong. Just throw them down the stairs a few times at the nick for a laugh and let them go for a swim in a vat of sulphuric. Waste of oxygen the lot of them.
Popped by Clare today, no longer a railway station but not abandoned. Something odd about wallking on where trains used to run.

Yeah, they were quite docile even with the amount of people there, but everyone kept their distance and were using zoom lensed. I just had my little TZ35 point and shoot. The only time they got twitchy was one someone decided to walk too close with their dogs.

Very nice. When they're curiously watching you from the water, with just their heads showing, they always look to me like a dog swimming along.
That they do. While this lot were chilling, there were loads of them in the water too.

One nice thing about this time of the year is the calm evenings after an unseasonably warm day. You often get some cracking skies. Like this one, just across the road from Trev Towers the other day.

If you've ever wondered how offshore wind turbines were installed, well, wonder no more. On Saturday I was having a (socially distanced) walk with my father along the old Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway line just north of Caister when we spotted this. The support boat with the erector crane has long hydraulic legs and it does a "push up" on the seabed beside the turbine site. Although this one was installing blades I assume this is also how they put up the tower as well.
They had a VERY calm North Sea to get this done on Saturday!

Funny you should post that, I saw a full on replica of the A -Team can in Felixstowe yesterday.
My pic of the day is this, calm before the storm. Not long afterwards the heavens opened and the worst rain I have seen in a long time drenched everything and flooded parts of the A14. Just after we passed the end of the Orwell bridge they closed it for two hours causing massive tailbacks and delays in Ipswich.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201011/4169d84479a8ac9ffd6716c48865a82c.jpg

Had a visitor at Trev Towers the other day. Early morning so this one was probably looking for somewhere to kip down for the day. Bit of a manky specimen with a bad left rear leg but it stopped around long enough for me to grab the tele lens.
Taken through an upstairs window - good job I had only recently washed them.

Still silly that we got rid of them. UK government "oh, these jets have reached end of life, too expensive lets get rid"
US... "brilliant jets, pop in some new avionics and good to go!"

Just uploaded a couple of pics I took over the weekend in Brighton visiting The Monkey.
Only had my now elderly compact with me but thankfully this young shouty thing sat there for ages, ignoring me as I experimented with flash settings through the tiny amount the window in the hotel room would open. Perhaps it was hoping for some chips but, alas for the gull, I'd eaten them all.
Slowish shutter speed and the daft thing almost stood still enough, but there is a slight blur in the tail if you look hard enough.
