Was meant to be at the Photo Show today :( Kept my day off work and uploaded some pics from the weekend to the 'puter and worked some Lightroom magic on some family pics. While I was there I came across this one from Saturday, which I'd forgotten I'd taken. Monkey knew I was up to something (she knows her father too well!) and looked at me in the door mirror at just the right time.

Lady Poppy and I went for a walk this afternoon - so many people in the park as it's a nice day, all of whom we managed to avoid. Coming back into the drive at Trev Towers a bird shot past our legs and settled on the garage roof. Thought it was a blackbird at first but then I looked again. For once I had my camera with me.

I reckon you're right. We get them here quite a lot as we have several bird feeders about the garden so we're on their hunting circuit.
Our pitcher plant sent up a flower. Very slowly opening. Also, cleaning the window is on my isloation to do list. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200328/7c8505234ef8196dc73d33373488cee6.jpg

The lighweight carbon torture machine has been hanging up for months in the garage. I've finally got it out in the good weather we're having. Great fun but it does make me ache for a while after riding. My neck is the worst. Reminds me of my SV a bit. Slightly painful after a while but worth it for the fun it brings.

Nice TREK, fairly chunky tyres?
Adam Ef
31-03-20, 09:32 PM
They're only 25mm. The slightly deep rims make them look a bit chunkier.
I'd have 28mm if the frame would fit them.
+ as with most things I own, if you look close up the frame is in a bit of a state. yet another thing I got cheap off someone who abused it. It's a bit out of vogue with external cabling etc, but it was a cheap build, is light and efficient and does the job well still.
Chris_SVS
31-03-20, 09:42 PM
Fat tyres are the way, I stuck 28's on my Planet X when I got it and wouldn't be doing back to 25/23 ever again. No need!
Adam Ef
01-04-20, 09:21 AM
Definitely. I had Conti GP4000 on my commuter that were meant to be 28mm, but meaured up at 31mm. they were lovely and floaty but still very efficient.

Neck pain is a sign of over extension, I used to suffer a lot from them. When I changed frame size they disappeared.
Get a bike fit, have someone look at your position.
I know you're in the business, but wouldn't hurt. Unlike neck pain. :-)

He's a big boy! Actually more comfortable on the smaller end, I'm all leg and short spine so I don't have the reach for frame sizes that my height would suggest, most sites would suggest 58+

Same here :)
I use a 56, but I like to have a long head tube, as I lack flexibility to have too much drop between the saddle & top of the bars. Plus I've going puny arm muscles, so I don't like too much weight on my wrists either.
After many years I have it about right
Adam Ef

I'm usually a 57/58cm frame and the Trek is a 56. I know it's slightly small for me but it's a nimble hill climber and quick blast bike for me and was a bargain from someone who scuffed it up a bit so beggars can't be choosers. My neck ache is mostly because I'm not used to the bike or riding much in general at the moment. When I was on it regularly last year I was fine and even managed a 100 miler in comfort on it.

Then blow dry with pet dryer + relube chain

Is it a listed building? Sometimes they catch fire when things like that get bought up and get denied use for the intended purpose . . . .
A locally listed building to me got sold (an old building that was a Harvester for years). Large building they wanted to convert in to flats, planning permission got denied due to what they wanted to do and the list of requirements to keep the building with a listed look. Not long after there was a fire, and the place was so badly damaged they had to knock it down. Coincidence . . . . . ?
Shhh!!! They will hear you!

This might reignite the photo mojo. Arrived today - was so excited I did not get the 700D out to take a better pic of it (this is a phone pic). The battery had zero charge in it so the hardest part is leaving it alone for five hours before trying it in earnest.
Feel so bad moving away from Canon but it is so small compared to the 700D and their EOS-M options just don't come close. Top of the line APS-C, IBIS, killer AF that goes all the way across the image, EVF, smaller and lighter so I'm more likely to carry it about with me... what's not to like.

I've recently sold my DSLR as i wasn't using it much, mainly down to the weight/bulk. It restricted luggage space on the bike and also if you were going for a walk what else you could take.
i'll [probably get back in to it once prices on mirrorless has come down, those camera bodies seem to be a fair bit lighter and smaller.
I still have my dslr but I also have a couple of older mirrorless cameras, an Olympus Pen EPL1 and a Panasonic G1. Both lightweight like a compact but with the added benefit of the micro four thirds sensor.

Like the colourful graffiti.
I seriously considered the new model Olympus M5 as it was the right size and has a very nice look to it. It's a bit more expensive though and the 40-150 lens I would have been itching to get weighs a lot, defeating the main object for me of having something lighter. The Sony 70-350 is pretty light for a G-Series lens by comparison.
Don't worry Gary - I don't understand the first thing about running or speaking Welsh so it all evens up in the end. ;)
I would like an Olympus OMD at some point, will probably be a Mk1 model as I can't really afford a Mk2. I can use the lenses from my Pen.

It's a shame that my local Jessops has gone as I would have gone back to them to see if they could do me a deal. In the end I went with Camera World who gave me a very nice quote after the March Show got cancelled, but as we got locked down I held off for a little while. They are discounting some Sony models anyway but still gave me a bit more off and made sure I knew about the Sony Summer Promotion. The A6600 takes a bit of getting used to after so many years with Canon but the detail and clarity so far have been superb. I agonised for a long time about going full frame or keeping it small so I would use it more and right now I am very pleased with my choice of portability.

200+ miles of very wet motorway on the GSXR today. I'm obliterated.
All to visit someone's business. I got near the destination and texted to get the exact address and he replied with "I'm at work and can't see you until 6pm" I though the business was his work, but turns out it's a sideline and he's crap at communicating. A few hours of freezing wet motorway battering for nothing. Grrrr... this should propbably be in the gripes thread but I've posted there too much recently.

Looks Ace!
Is that allowed now? I might have to do the same one of these weekends
in England they gave the go ahead last weekend for sites to open. Lots of Covid guidance to follow, but this site wasn't overly busy so it was easy enough to avoid people.
