i'm assuming the LH lever is the rear brake?

They look odd when you see no shaft/belt/chain final drive.

And i'm not sure about that colour scheme either, looks like they wanted something a bit Retro on the back, but couldn't follow it through on the front.

Wet and manky day here at Trev Towers so have been wandering through the pics I've taken this year looking out some interesting ones.

On holiday in Wales back in June I got to try my 70-350G on the A6600 on some very tame wildlife hopping about between the tables of the Dell Cafe at Bodnant Gardens.

It's gorgeous up there. I always forget how good it is to walk in the borders area around there. The dogs did enjoy it although they had to stay on leads as there is livestock there.

Great pics, Gary. Mitchell's Fold is one of those places where you look around you and realise the view hasn't changed much for hundreds, if not thousands of years. You can almost feel the presence of whoever put the stone circle there.

I had a very strong sense it being an ancient landscape all over the Mitchells Fold and Stapeley Hill area while we were walking there. First time I've been there for over 20 years. I'm living only a few miles from there for the time being so I shall be back there to walk some more.
It was also the first time I'd ever walked in and around Bromlow Callow, again, despite have spent over 35 years looking at it each time I've driven or ridden along the Shrewsbury/Minsterly road.

We've had stacks of these tiny frogs in the pond quite late in the season this year. I hope they've grown enough to survive! You can see from the duck weed how small they are and the pipe on the left from the submerged pump (ironically to a large ceramic frog water feature) is only 15mm wide too.

Popped to Felixstowe this morning, the tide was high and the wind was blowing strong and it all made for a rough looking sea. Definitely looks better in black and white. If anyone has a micro four thirds camera, I can highly recommend the Olympus 1508 body cap lens. 15mm and a fixed aperture of f8. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211019/a6b3449b52a8e14908e5a983b845c8c6.jpg

You need to know what you are doing when picking those sort of things to eat -
they could be poisonous for all I would know !

garynortheast

If I wasn't absolutely certain about what a particular type of mushroom is, I don't pick it.

Since the end of the last WW people in western society seem to have moved so far from any involvement with the natural world that they are largely afraid to pick any wild food at all any more. Very sad indeed.

Craig380
22-10-21, 08:38 AM
As you say, you need to know exactly what you're picking. I saw this story a few weeks back about wild mushroom picking in France: https://www.connexionfrance.com/French-news/Toxic-mushroom-linked-to-high-rates-of-nerve-disease-in-south-France

As the old joke puts it, you know it's a serious medical condition when it's named after three guys ...

before it was banned (in my youth) i used to go "mushy" picking including fly agaric. those were interesting times.

there is loads of foraging to be had these days as nobody is interested and would rather buy plastic containers of stuff from supermarkets.. its a shame.

Your walks are nicer than Mike Gary. This evening I took a footpath I don't normally use that lead me past a new industrial park thats just waiting for its access road to be paved before opening. The path then takes me behind my local carvery which had a distinctly disturbing sewerage smell wafting out mingled with the more normal kitchen smells. The route back was beside a road...

Border country/Welsh Marches/Y Gororau. Some superb walking country, just 10 miles from here in Llandysul. Bring your walking boots next time you come up here Adam, I'll take you over there for a tramp in the hills!

It is indeed John, and I climbed up on top of it!

Great views - blue skies and frost underfoot wonderful.

One of my top five walks of the year so far. First time up there for probably 15 years, despite living so close to the place. I shall be going back.

Hi Bibio, this is the camera in question, an Olympus Pen EP-1 Micro Four Thirds with the 15mm body cap lens. I got lucky and get the camera cheap (£23 as it sometimes comes up with card error, which is fixed by reinserting the card) and the lens was about £30 from London Camera Exchange. The lens pretty much lives on the camera. Link to a higher resolution copy https://flic.kr/p/2mKnyGY

When I walked a lot before digital I used an Olympus RC35 - It served me well for many years -I guess its still in the loft somewhere.

I have an RC35 in my collection, nice little camera but sadly the meter doesn't work in mine.

Nice sunrise through the trees Gary. We've had a few like that recently - the sun comes over the tree line across the valley at this time of year as I'm munching my morning porridge so I get a nice view from my armchair by the patio window.

Having read that back before clicking the Post button I realise that makes me sound very old...
