First off,
A great day but a ****ty evening. Was rear-ended at a roundabout (not sure which one) about 5 mins after leaving Boxhill. Been to hospital and been checked over - thankfully nothing serious.
The duchess, however, is another matter. I don't know what shape she's in as I was pushed into the ambulance pretty quickly - the last glimpse I had was of a car on top of her and brake fluid all over the road.
That said, I did have a fab day out and really enjoyed meeting new faces and riding fun roads. Well done Billy.
Matt, I've had this happen twice, real shock to the system, one resulted in a compacted disk and me off the road for 2 months  , I'm slightly paranoid about it these days and watch the vehicle behind when stopped at lights and stuff.
Anyway, let me know if you need any help, I'm sure if needs be, I'll be able to help.
Right, my day,
Got up, 3.30am (yes, in the morning  ) watched the WSB from Philip island, some great racing.
shoot off down to the Oakdene for Breakfast, got there just after Nine.
proper breakfast, not exactly what the doctor ordered, but hey, we all go sometime, you might as well enjoy the journey.
People started to turn up from 09:30 or so, chin wag, brew, distributed half a dozen route lists (simple to follow, not to much detail, with the map on the back) and we kicked off at the stated time.
soon noticed the clutch I'd abused Saturday carving up a Gixer thou, was going to be "interesting" on this ride.
Started off with good intentions of just being one of the pack, yeah right :!:
Turned on to the A20 on the other side of the roundabout, and pegged it passed Helen, who went with me, i saw the B2016 on the right late and was just about to grab a handful of the excellent triumph brake, and crank it hard over for the turn, quick flick in the mirrors, to find them full of naked SV  , sort of guessed/knew the SV brakes aren't the same so chose to over shoot pointing at the turning, rather than the alternative.
Done a loop and pointed the turning out to those following.
Blatted back to the group when all had passed, I kind of like this as I get to enjoy the run , but still stay it touch with every one.
Merry trundle along and sometime latter my fuel light comes on.
(now this needs explaining, the tank sender stopped working so I fitted an SV one, but the triumph only supports the one sender and not the 2 fitted to the SV unit, thinking I had wired up the top sender unit I guessed I had about 3 ltr of juice left, and being on 86 miles to that tank sort of confirmed it, wrong :!: , 13 miles later, about 4 miles from the main road, the bike died, out of gas, dam  )
Still we'd passed a petrol station a couple of hundred yards back so no biggy, Viney turned around and came back after passing me and asked what the problem was, I explained that I'd only be a few minutes pushing the bike back and filling up, so to go on and I'd catch up, no problem, wrong, bl**dy station closed :? .
pushed the bike towards the village as I was going in that direction, and as luck would have it Tim (forgotten this user name) was on his way down to Lydden to watch the mini-twins and recognised the bike on passing and turned round and came back ( Cheers Tim), anyway I pushed it up to the village pub, and Tim went off and found a petrol station and got me a can and some juice, thanked them and off they went, stopped off at the pub for a quick pint after my physical exertions (those Triumphs are bl**dy heavy you know).
Decided to miss the Rye stop and shoot straight across the A28 to make up some time.
Parked up just on the A229 turning, had a couple of fags waiting.
the guy's came passed so I put on the helmet and started the bike, now I was parked on the pavement and between me and the road was a flower bed, so I shoot down the path and use the first hard standing across the dirt, gun it On to the road, just as AN OLD BILL DISCO COMES ROUND THE CORNER!,Bo**ocks,
"You rode down the pavement, and wheeled off it into the road and was doing at least 50 mph", well being me,I discussed the matter with the officer, and we decide, It wasn't a good idea to cut across the flower bed as it would ruin the flower and the bike could have fallen over, I was coming up to road speed in the shortest time, and the front wheel was just "popped" over the curb Stone., once the officer was sufficiently educated, I was off on my way.
Brisk, run down to Wesson, for a brew,
Set off, fairly swift pace, stopped at a number of junctions to show others the way, let them all pass, then off I'd go and pass them and do the same again, It soon became obvious Matt and Joe were on a bit of a mission (watch those blind overtakes Joe  ), anyway stopped an some more junctions, and let them all go by, and so on, up to the A29, the clutch was giving me some problems, so decided to just maintain speed, and shot down to Boxhill.
Apart from seeing my new petrol can go flying off the back, and thinking "sod it" (sorry Matt), that was the end of the ride for me, a brew at rykers and a bit more chat, then off home.
Good day 9Cheers Billy), I done my own thing (not always through choice) Had a route plan and map, if I wanted to follow them, and was in charge of the "large" control on the bike so decided my own speed, and enjoyed myself. which after all is what it's all about.
Cheers Mark.
