Bloody ell man, send me a fax and i can see if i can do anything with it. seems to me they may try to write that off. if you buy it back then it may well work out cheaper to repair it yourself with aftermarket components.

Remember thoes prices are all ex vat.

Seems all the prices for new original Suzuki parts.

If I'm being honest Matt, that estimate is no surprise at all.

An insurance repair must follow the Thatcham rules - which says that any part must be replaced with new, and any investigatory work that involves breaking undamaged parts (seals, clips, glass etc) must also account for those new parts as replacements.

4.5 hours labour seems optimistic... but not overly so.

The point is, they've got to put your bike back to how it was before, using Suzuki original parts - that's the way it should be. So no one can scoff at the fact that a full Akropovic exhaust costs less than the Suzuki one.

As Joe says... it'll probably be written off. Tread cautiously and you should be able to keep the bike, and a cash settlement - however the bike will be labelled as a Cat C/D writeoff for the rest of its life.

If I were you, I'd bargain that they should repair the bike, but perhaps fit that glorious Akro road legal full system

yeah plus VAT.... and someone wondered why I took my bike to northampton to get it serviced at mates workshop..

at £34 p/h inclusive of vat I was saving almost £50 straight off, plus the parts were cheaper and he billed me for the exact time rather than oh gone over the hour so thats another hour to add on...

two choices here... get it fixed or written off, but with quotes like that you may not have the option they may just write it off... isnt it if the cost of repair exceeds a % value of the bike then its deemed economically unrepairable...?

If they do write it off hope for a cat c/d. If its an a or b you wont get the bike back as theyre the categories where the bike is deemed too damaged to repair or its just too dangerously damaged that no fix is possible.

If it is cat c/d, keep it and do it up with non-oem parts and you'll have it back on the road with the cheque less salvage value...

off to chuckle to myself.... still cant believe they valued the cbaarrggghh at £1200 quid... :D

Looks similar to my estimate last year.

Which is why I got high level twin renes for less that the OEM can!

that hurt my eyes to read,
and its not even my bike.

i think id get a settlement , get a new bike, and if tou can afford it buy back the wreck and either sell it as a track day bike, or repair it aftermarket and use it in the mini twins next year !!

see this could be good, next season you could be a racer !!!
