Bloody ell man, send me a fax and i can see if i can do anything with it. seems to me they may try to write that off. if you buy it back then it may well work out cheaper to repair it yourself with aftermarket components.

these rip off merchants will be quoting original new equipment prices and the R&G's have been redesigned recently so have probably given a mis quote on that item.

If I'm being honest Matt, that estimate is no surprise at all.

An insurance repair must follow the Thatcham rules - which says that any part must be replaced with new, and any investigatory work that involves breaking undamaged parts (seals, clips, glass etc) must also account for those new parts as replacements.

4.5 hours labour seems optimistic... but not overly so.

The point is, they've got to put your bike back to how it was before, using Suzuki original parts - that's the way it should be. So no one can scoff at the fact that a full Akropovic exhaust costs less than the Suzuki one.

As Joe says... it'll probably be written off. Tread cautiously and you should be able to keep the bike, and a cash settlement - however the bike will be labelled as a Cat C/D writeoff for the rest of its life.

If I were you, I'd bargain that they should repair the bike, but perhaps fit that glorious Akro road legal full system
