I can't remember the exact figures, but something like the top 10% of earners pay 90% of income tax. Really, most people are getting far more state support than they'll ever pay for. Now consider that the rich probably won't even use alot of those state services, how can it possibly be right to tax them further still?
I completely agree with patch - don't whine about how the rich should be doing more to support you, get out and try harder.
Ya mean the MCN candidate; that's only in Peterborough?

Er i wasnt. I was just stating that you cant just walk into a 100k job! I think the fact that certain parties want to tax the over 100k erners is pants.
100k jobs, are usualy in certain areas, most of which i have no interest in working. I just think its easy for those that are in them to say, oh, they;re easy and all that, and it aint. In the print indusrty for instance, there is no chance of earning 100k. 50k is the tops, and those jobs are held by people that have been in the trade for years and years, and when they go, they are replaced by people earning 30k. It dont interest me at all one bit. So come on, spill the beans. What trades are the 100k jobs in?
The main area that pays large money is sales. No, don't look away and say you're not interested. Sales is a very wide field, full of interesting opportunities that vary wildly in remuneration.
Qualities required? A first rate attitude, being prepared to work a few hours a week more than most people, having a desire to succeed that makes you tingle all over and the ability to get up and dust yourself down time and time again. That's it really.
I know a client of mine whose top sales people earn 250k a year, all leads supplied. True. I could walk into one of those jobs tomorrow, but have no desire to as I'm determined to succeed on my own (yeah I know, what an idiot  ).
Open your eyes, expand your horizons and don't take no for an answer - the money is honestly out there if you want it.
.
One where you have to be dishonest I've found from my exp of sales.
The right product is the one you have. The right person is anyone, that sorta stuff? lol

Everyone in their job is dishonest to an extent.

This really isn't so. Yes there are some bad outfits around (operated by cowboys) but against this are a vast amount of legitimate professional sales opportunities that require integrity, honesty and genuinely finding the right solution for the customer. Building longterm client relationships where it's mutually advantageous is where the big sales pros excel. They earn money by providing what their customer wants, not by hoodwinking them into a dodgy deal.
.
Yes but I'm meaning taking money from people when you know deep down it's not what they want, especially when they can't really afford it. My experience is only door to door sales I'm guessing with B2B I'd have less of a guilty conscience
Jonboy yes point taken; personally I didn't really go as far as that.

Consider mechanics - some of the biggest cowboys out there, where their dishonesty might be in trying to sell you something you don't need at best, or skimping on workmanship and getting you killed at worst, and for what? A few quid.
In the end you can find dishonest people everywhere, it just seems worse when it happens at the top because they're making more money than most.
aha but perhaps then the richest mechanics would be bestselling mechanics? Like Robert Kiyosaki's books, where he says he's a best selling author, not a best writing author. :) I'll shutup now

Couldn't agree more. Bunch of toe-rags the lot of 'em.

Yes a totally different ball-game.

Well.. I'm sat infront of BBC1... Mr Snow's got his Swingometer out, Sunderland are about to announce!
One thing's for sure, there's very little "go out and make your fortune" attitude in this country, and the tax burden may have something to do with that. The fact that SO much is payed, and SO little is received!
There are more and more high-earners out there. I've recently moved to a company dealing in residential property as one of its markets. There is no doubt in their analysis over the past few years, that the super-rich and rich categories have grown massively!
That represents a considerable amount of tax into the Government's coffers.
My view: If you're working for it, and earning lots... who am I to take it away from you! Well done on your success, I only hope to aspire to that.
I could go on, but for once, I won't!
Patch: respect!

Importantly also... 1500 votes under what the exit polls said!
Yea, but 149 votes for the offical raving loony party in Sunderland :D
over 1100 for the bnp too..... right well thats enough election rubbish for me... think i'll watch hitchikers now its finished downloading
Never mind the election..............
Lets have some more details on the 100K jobs. What area of sales are you talking about jonboy ?
Patch, what exactly do you do to command this high salary?
I work in a high-tech manufacturing industry and the only people earning that much would be at director level. A lot of companies in this industry have shutdown manufacturing in this country and gone to the far-east, where labour costs are far cheaper. I think the site I work at has less than 2 years before we close.
So what new career should I persue to get into the 100K club ?
Peter's swingometer was good - with sound effects this year!
My fave graphic were the leaders racing up and down the road outside No. 10 - hilarious - tony blair looked like a plump prince edward.
Peter was still doing his stuff at half seven this morning in the orange shirt with his enthusiasm intact. respect to the man.
