Hate to drag the bigger brothers (and sisters) into this but the SV1000 mob have already booked theirs for next year. It's Cumbria in July. So looks as though traipsing to either end of the country is do-able! :o
Having missed the SV650 Annual event this year - I'd really like to do in in '06. :)
We could go & gate-crash theirs though :D
slight derail of the topic. Having just come back from Cadwell I came back by some blinding A roads around Lincoln, Spalding, Market Deeping before picking up the A43 to Northampton.
so anyone suggesting Lincoln area gets my vote :D
I like the idea of a gathering though with a couple of short rideouts planned if people want to do them. say a morning/afternoon one. after all part of the fun of being on the bike is exploring new places. :D

Coppers are a nightmare there too - Hate bikers in particular :(

really? never saw one the whole 3 days I was up there. saw loads of bikers on my way to horncastle and not one copper on the sunday.
take your word for it, shame though. cos the A153 was a pretty nice road... nice touch with the tornados taking off from Conningsby when I went through :D
I used to live in that area and indeed the police are not very generous to the bikers in that neck of the woods. More to do with the attraction of the brilliant roads for bikers and the consequent high volume of biker accidents and deaths that ensue.

Were there many lone females on the ride? and is it limited to SV's? I have an SV but my other half, (some say better, but I am not sure about that) has an RI.
I like Mid Wales for riding out, or the Peak district. Good roads nice scenery, camping sites abound....[/b]
Am I missing something or did you not actually post anything?

true, just got the hang of it - new to this. Any advice welcome.
Okay no problem ;).
Certainly there were single females. Mainly SVs (naturally) but guest bikes welcome.
.
I would just like to say I like the idea of wales.. though I have no idea if I'll be attending though I would love to go. Might even be me and Jax.. though probably only a day event for us.. but PJ should be about 1 yr and 2mths if its held in June. So I think he'd be all right... anyone lend me a side car??? lol.
I would just like to say I like the idea of wales...
They make dreadful pillions.

how about a rideout to one of the bsb rounds, donnington park being fairly central, maybe having a word with suzuki to see if something could be organized with getting all the bikes inside the circuit? maybe if we get enough interest do a meet up on the sat morn take a ride to donnington, camp over night and then watch the racing on the sunday?

Good idea but by the time we all get there all we'll see is the dustcart going round and clearing up!!
What about joining the Irish/Ecosse Ride?

I'm up for that and as the SV org has membership we could probably fully book the Balloch YH if we gave them enough notice, plus the campsite is close nearby It would be an ideal start/ finish
Do remember folks that it's the "national" annual rideout that we're planning not a regional one ;). Although Scotland is a gorgeous place it's so far for most peeps that the turnout would be minimal, hence my original post suggesting a central area which should guarantee the most number of bikes in attendance.

Point taken What about MATLOCK outside Derby half way between
B/ham and M/chester This area has some nice riding areas which the locals will be able to point out and camping/YHA/b&b Roughly half way between North and South in the middle of the Peak District

Matlock wud be perfecto for me !!
but dint ya do cat n fiddle a few years back !??
I will go amywhere cos last one was ace!..
I will bring mrs Quiff too this time..oh and leave me camera at home !!....so no pics.!!....
central sounds good though and deffo .... need the rideout and a social evenong.!! after so means the saturday really for the rideout!..or a mini one.!! relaxed BBQ is best I think..... just dossing around chewin the fat.
however- it is soo soo hard to organise and soo soo easy to throw in 2 pennies worth without offering to help that I will go with the flow...
Matlock is again a gorgeous place but as Quiff says it was used for the Annual Rideout before last (plus it has avery heavy police presence).

28-12-05, 06:26 PM
Re Heavy Police presence That seems a common factor anyway if BIG APE goes first no problem
Where haven't we been bearing in mind that as you say JB it has to be fairly accessable for all Yorkshire Moors,or maybe The Lakes?
even East Anglia which is more promising with regard to weather for those that might be camping
As regards BA, yes we'll make him go first I think  .
But geographically, I really don't mind. I think I'll put up a poll with the different area options at the end of January and then let's see what peeps want.

My vote is for the peak district.
I went to a weekend rally last year that was held here... http://home.freeuk.com/lumbfarm/ The place has great facilities and is pretty easy to find. Details of that rally can be found here... http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/meetings/UK2005.php
Has anyone decided on a date yet?
How about back to the Podarosa(sp?)
if i remember, it was the 1st org annual rideout. maybe it would be nice to re vist there? Just a suggestion

I've got a route we could do. It would want a bit of tweaking to cope with the amount of riders.
Imagine the sound of all those SV's rumbling up porlock hill 8)
Only downside is that it would be a bit of a trek for alot, probably the majority of forum members
I don't care where it is but can we start talking dates so that I can be sure to have the time off work. :?:

The first weekend in June sounds fine, but I'll gauge an overall feeling by putting up a poll.

Good area for me would be Wales, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, but I don't mind where it is. We just need to make a decision and quickly. Late May or early June is fine but I may have trouble convincing the wife to let me go for another weekend. (off to Le Mans in May!!!)

I don't care where it is, if I can do the weekend at all then I'll travel anywhere in Britain.
After the first weekend in June is best for me, datewise, since I'll be moving somewhere to be confirmed later.

dont really mind when it is, however
Please not the same weekend that the Donnington round of Moto GP is on, the race is on Sunday 2nd of July this year so that weekend I will be mostly queueing in a field somewhere :D
Well i've missed the last two due to a crash and lack of riding confidence respectively, I'm really gonna try for this one..... Not fussed on location and no stable summer plans yet :)

The Shetlands it is then! :P
Shropshire and into mid-Wales.
Start at Shrewsbury, then to Kiddeminster through Much Wenlock (could divert via Ironbridge & Buildwas, great road, & the noise through the Severn gorge & through the town would be awesome) and Bridgnorth on the A458, stopping at the cafe at Quatt on the way, then on to Leominster (good caff there too) via Tenbury Wells, then A44 to Crossgates (good caff there also) (Crossgates is near Llandrindod Wells) then the A483 to Newtown, then back to Shrewsbury along the western part of the A458 via Welshpool.
Sorted.

Well volunteered Ed, You're now the official organiser of this years rideout.
Sounds good to me, good roads, good place to meet, ie Dobbies garden centre on the A5, petrol station, little chef and big car park, what more could we ask ! :D

sunshine would be good too.

How about the first weekend in June?
Always busy this weekend - last week of the half term - holidays etc. Can we have another weekend ?
I prefer Sythree’s proposal (Welsh Marches), not for any nationalistic reasons but because I’ve seen some of his photos taken in the area.
I would like to propose that any route selected should be well within one fuel tanks range for the SV (say 130 miles), Travelling slow will mean lots of low gear, high consumption riding. If we all need to refill at the same time at a filling station with few pumps it will take an age, a few will risk doing 160 miles on one tank and some people will be unfortunate.
In addition I suggest that any circular route should be tackled in an anti-clockwise direction, this should offer fewer right-turn T-junctions and the problems they cause.

well i can assure you mate if it's in wales its more than 130 miles for the majority of people.

Errm...I wonder if "Annual Ride-out 06" is really an accurate description: its more like "Another Riding Session for Outer London and Essex Softies...06".
'Course, the acronym is not so snappy.....
A rather clumsy try EB, if you don't mind me saying so, the wooden spoon has already been waved with aplomb by Amarko earlier ;).

It was a NUMPTY (Not a Useful or Meaningful Post, Thank You).
Dont know if I missed it but cant see where its all happening, if the location has not been decided then maybe the site officials should suggest 3 or 4 places and put it to the vote, if it is decided.......where the bl**dy hell is it.

Speaking to Jonboy this afternoon, I think it's time to put the date in stone and go for the 8-9th July date. People can then start planning.
Same goes for the venue. Shropshire it is.
I'll start to put a page together on the mainsite, to act as a repository for all the maps, routes, local info and anything else I can think of.
John
I am very confused now.
AR06 seems to be over the weekend of 8th (Saturday) and 9th (Sunday) of July, somewhere around Shropshire.
When exactly is the main ride? Saturday or Sunday? Some posts seem to be hinting it is on Saturday, some on Sunday, some people are staying Friday night, others Saturday and some both!! I can't tell what is right!!!
Ian
It's as yet undecided but is looking to be the Saturday starting at late morning or midday. The dedicated and party-loving SVers will be coming up on the Friday, nursing a hangover early Saturday morning, going for the ride Sat pm (probably) then back for more drunkeness and debauchery in the evening. Sunday will be a late and easy wake up and a relaxed bimble home (again, probably  ).
Watch this space for further info.

I'm supposed to be in work on 9th July so I asked to book that day off, have been refused cos there's already people taken holiday due to the world cup final, and looking very unlikely that I'll be able to even swap a shift with someone on that day :(
I was really hoping to stay for the saturday night but now might have to ride home...
