hi to all,

does anyone know where I can buy a scale model of a curvey blue sv (i.e. die cast/replica). I want to buy myself a stocking filler, so when I am sitting at work in the mildly subdued January I can glance over at the baby sv and drift off into a nice riding daydream!......

Cheers

Darn.

Well 'they' bloomin well should!!!

Got a friend who managed to locate a perfect mini replica of his TL1000S which sold much less, but I guess was a 'flagship' type of bike for Suzuki.

Ah well, eyes peeled and all that!

Cheers

Get a brick of balsa and some sharp knives.

Nah, actually get about 40 bricks of balsa, you'll need to practice. And about 500 elastoplasts and a few litres of o neg.

Maisto make a model Pointy on a stand in 1/16 scale. Check E-Bay. I have been scouring the model shops for years and even contacting distributors and model companies, but no one so far has made a proper kit of the pointy or curvy. :-(

Maybe if enough of us hassle them for one, a big hairy director of a model company will make one?

OK, let's put a petition together and see what we can do. Who do we contact? :smt064

Airfix (https://www.airfix.com/contact-us/)

Revell (http://www.revell.com/news/contact-us.html)

Tamiya (http://www.tamiya.com/english/agent/agent.htm)

Or do you know of any others? :elephant:

Mind you, we would probably have to ask for either a curvy or a pointy, given that the pointy is a much prettier model, it would have to be one of them! Or we ask them to make the model to have the two options!

No need.

The easiest way would be to find someone with one of them new fangled 3D printers, take some photo's of you bike, create CAD file & print. Simples.

Difficult to get a pretty picture of a pointy mind :joker:

Hmm. But do we know anyone with one of those printers?

I know i dont :/

Perhaps if there was enough demand the org could get a discount for a bulk order of curvy & pointy models

Aslong as they arent rediculous money, i think quite a few people on here would be interested (y)

I would, after all what is a good price for a bike model? I would be happy to pay £30 for a plastic kit if it is a small one.

Shall I have a chat with with the companies then? :D

Well I have e-mailed them and asked if they can make us some. :D

I to would be happy to pay that. And maybe £50 if it was metal.

Oo how good are your charming tactics? I think you can do it jayne! I have faith! ;) aha.

the 3d printer is a good idea, we have one at work, Ive never used it, as its in the design dept and Im electrical fitter, but a guy made an iphone holder for their pram, lol. so an sv would be very cool.

Doubt the modelling companies would make an sv, moulds and tooling, kit desing etc cost thousands to produce and I doubt they would make the returns necessary.

The maisto sv is an sv1000 they sell for about £5 upwards when on ebay, so far Ive seen yellow, red, copper and blue ones

I'll be over in the morning Lee :D

Silver Curvy, with lowers & USD front end, it'll make a fabulous model

Good morning my fellow Organs (Orgers? :smt110 ), I have had a reply from the lovely folks at Tamiya Models.

Dear Jayne,

Thank you for your email.

The sad fact is that the modelling industry in general is subject to kit manufacturer’s being able to agree licensing agreements with the major, car, bike lorry manufacturers etc.

This process can often take years and the costs involved can often mean that the products may never see the light of day because they are not commercially viable.

Perhaps, pressure on Suzuki may reap more benefits!

Best regards,

Chris Heys

Customer Service Manager (and Triumph Bonneville SE owner)

I am still to hear from Air Fix and Revell, but this gentleman may have given us an idea for the step in our campaign. Let's all contact Suzuki and ask them to get a model kit made! :smt035

I dont know why i didnt think of that sooner. Should of known theyd have to get a licence!

Yeah, i dont see why we cant hound Suzuki and see what they say. Who can we all send a lovely e-mail to then? I want a curvy! Lol.

Why not ask Suzuki if they will comission some model kits from a relevant model kit maker?
Bypasses all the politics of licensing agreements etc.

I have had a reply from Revell and it looks interesting.

Jayne,

Thank you for your interest in Revell. By copy, your email has been forwarded to Revell of Germany: USewerin@revell.de as your suggestion more than likely refers to product they would consider producing.

I shall start looking into who we need to contact at Suzuki. :smt038

I have had a reply from Suzuki. ](*,)

Dear Miss Carter

Thank you for your recent email.

Having read your correspondence we are delighted to learn of your keen interest for the SV650 and trust that your motorcycle will continue to meet and exceed with your expectations.

In terms of your enquiries regarding a scale model of the SV650 we can confirm that we have no involvement in the manufacture of such items and are not aware of any third party company who produce them. We apologise for any disappointment caused.

We would like to thank you for taking the time to inform us of your experiences. Please do call us on 0500 011959 should you require any assistance in the future.

Kind regards

Glen Coppock

Customer Services Executive

Suzuki GB PLC

I have not yet heard from Airfix though, other than an automated reply that says that my message will be dealt with. :smt023

I shall contact Maisto and ask if they can release a 1:12 model rather than the 1:18 scale and see how I get with that.

I shall not give up until every avenue has been explored. :smt023

Its a shame that. The licensing issues means no other manufacterer is willing to make one, time n money etc. suzuki dont seem that arsed on getting the ball rolling.

So i assume youve reached abit of a dead end? Other than a manufacterer that has already made one.

Cheers for your efforts Jayne. Brilliant job!
