I dont know about anybody else, but I would wager that the first weekend in July will be out for the many as its the Donnington Moto GP that weekend.
I'm not sure if anyone realises but it is the weekend of the world cup final. You know, the single biggest sporting occasion on the planet? Live world audiences in the billions, that sort of thing?
The match is on at 8:00pm Sunday and the loosers final is at the same time on the Saturday. England will have been knocked out approximately 2 weeks earlier.
Thought Id chip in with this vital peice of information.

Aye,
What better. A weekend on the bikes getting way from all of that.
I'm sure that it will be on at the pub though.
SWEET. That means there is more likelyhood that the roads will be so much less congested.
Fantastic timing I say. :smt023
I will be back home by eight on the sunday hopefully to watch the world cup final.
If England get through to the semi's  I'll miss that one because I'm going to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers instead.

Why don't you stay over Saturday night. That's why we are having the ride on a Saturday this year. Last year there were a few that were "a little worse for wear". We thought that if the ride was on a Saturday, that would allow those that wanted to let their hair down and have a really good "get to know you" event down the pub, could do so and not have to worry about riding under the influence the following morning.
Just a thought.
Guys we will be driving up now so we can do the food and beer shopping while you lot are on the rideout

I have some soft panniers and a tank bag...but then theres the tent ,sleeping bag, kettle etc.
Can anyone let me know of any good sleeping mats / blow up pillow etc.? that will save some space as i only have one of those heavy blow up mattresses...Maybe I should have booked B&B instead !!
Really looking forward to AR06 now less than 3 weeks to go now !

OK, so this is my list of stuff I'm taking.
Right pannier, Jo's sleeping bag, a pair of shoes, three changes of underwear, her waterproofs and a spare T shirt
Left pannier, my sleeping bag, three changes of underwear, my waterproofs and a spare T shirt.
On the sports rack. One tent.
In the tank bag, fags, cash, clear visor, money, cards, spare gloves, two fleeces, waterproofs, toothbrush and toothpaste. Oh and the instant shower kit, a can of deodorant.
That's it.
It's a camping and biking weekend. This means normal rules do not apply. Two nights of getting filthy dirty, one night of getting filthy drunk and then home on the Sunday for a bath and to watch Germany V Brazil in the world cup final.
Well you don't seriously thing England will be there do you.

But yes to the Friday and Saturday :D
Now need to go read this thread properly and find out what the hell is going on. Havent done that yet as it was only confirmed today we could go. :D
of course pans are allowed to participate, at least ed is the back marker so you should be able to keep in front of him :D . the ride should start at around 10.30 to 11 am from dinky's diner on sat.the route will probably be the one john has put on the main rideout page or very close to it.
see you there then.

Hey guys, had an idea yesterday while looking at the north south pictures about bringing some tools and stuff with me and T since were in the car.
I can chuck in a load of my tools along with a spare gear shifter and brake pedal with me and other spares that may break from off my sv. (the gear shifter and brake pedal will be the kind with the bolts through)
Just a thought as you never know what will happen, anything else you can think of or if its a good/bad idea?
first aid box?
that was one of the things we talked about anything in particular?

Puncture repair kit, I'm going to get a rep and air kit like the one matt used to fix his tyre on Sunday and tuck it under my seat, might worth getting one and keeping with your tools just in case.

So where's john?..
still hungover?
still at pub?
with said barmaid>?????
I am waiting on this story ... :?:
We dropped into the Swan last night. Spoke with Steve Parker the owner. Everything is fine. no problem with space. In fact there was plenty of space last night, so the season isn't in full swing yet.
Steve still plans to put you lot in the overflow field. Not due to lack of space but more out of consideration for the other people camping. I wouldn't be fair to families etc to have a bunch of noisy bikers in the next tent.
The confusion over the capacity was down to the young barman. Pitches are guaranteed for all those that have booked. Pitches are allocated on a first come first served basis. So the earlier you turn up the more choice you'll have. Normal campsite arrangements I think. Having seen the overflow field, it's all much of a muchness, one piece of green grass is pretty much the same as another. But it does have plenty of space and it wasn't in use at all last night.
We noticed on the menu that they serve all day breakfasts. The restaurant was very busy serving meals when we arrived, so I don't think food and drink is going to be an issue.
The chef arrives at 8am on Sunday, to start the Sunday carvery. The barman stated that breakfast may not be available, but Steve shrugged that comment off, as if to say, we'll sort out something.
We got on with our drinking at this point and at 11pm a bunch of people started singing folk songs along with guitar and irish drum. Was very good and very lively.
I took a short video on the camera phone, which I'll try and convert from 3gp format.
All for now.
John
PS, I didn't see the barmaid that I spoke to last time, maybe it was her night off.

cool thanx for going to the pub in the interests of the AR06 john you are indeed a star
really looking forward to it and meeting everyone.
In light of recent events, does that mean that attendance may be up on previous numbers :?:
I don't know whether the total number of bikes will be greater than last year but I think the social side is going to be exceptionally good.
.
But I still need to now whether I can get coffee first thing in the morning - I need a kick startb these days?
Does anyone have a sleeping mat I can borrow?
Sally, are you starting to feel ill yet :?:
although it took ages to organise going to the pub it was all in the line of duty and of course the beer and ambience had to be checked out. i think you'll all agree that it is a superb venue when you get here, the setting couldn't be better. as to coffee in the morning dinky's is only 10 mins by bike and for the adventurous only about 30 mins walk.
