View Full Version : My SV650S seems faulty

I have an 01 SVS, it seems when I open the bike up in first, the speedo gets up to about 20mph, the steering goes all light, then the speedo seems to show me slowing down, yet I am still accelerating
until an varying distance down the road, where the speedo 'picks up' quickly and seems to work ok again ...
This only seems to occur when I give it a fistful in first
or go over a bump whilst giving it a fistful in second
Any ideas??? ;)

It seems as though you 'co-efficient of friction' surfaces are on the blink :!:
This is remidied by slightly smoother/less harsh twisting motion of the right hand whilst in first or second gear - you will find your speedo works smoothly & correctly at all times then...
Alternatively, have the speedo cable re-routed to work off the rear wheel

I had the same problem. :?
I solved it by hanging strings of onions on the front to add weight. This seemed to help. Goes rather well with my beret too.

Isn't there a known problem with Curvy speedo sensors? I'm sure a few bods on here have had to replace them :?

Now don't tell me, but there's a puff of smoke and then the speedo starts working again, right?

Who me??!?!?
never :D
The speedo seems to have become faulty more often now I have fitted a 14t front sprocket
wonder if there is any relationship?!!? ;)
Seriously though, unless you do lots of touring/motorway, I can highly recommend a 14t front sprocket, it livens the bike up just that little bit. In a way its like giving the bike more HP :)
