Guys

once again your advice is required

Having decided my charging problem is down to my RR I have followed advice and got my hands on a Honda RR from a CBR6RR

The model number is SH678FA

OK this RR has 3 yellow wires so I guess they go to the altenator, it is the other 4 wires my question relates to, there are two red and two green. So where do these go.

The couple of wiring diagrams (Not CBR6RR) I have looked at would suggest that these wires are coupled beyond the connector block together to make one red + and one green -

If anyone has a wiring diagram for a 2005 CBR6RR can they post the part that relates to the charging circuits

Hmm I did this a while back on my sv, not sure on how many wires it had but when I get home ill have a quick flick through my haynes and see if it stirs any memories

Well I ended up metering out the two reds and two greens, as far as I could tell they was nothing between them so I ended up soldering them together and into existing connections.

Metered out the battery and I am now seeing 13.8v at 5000rpm with lights on. So I guess this £20 RR has done the trick.

What did initially concern me was after I had disconnected the old RR and was moving the wires there was an electrical "flash". When I then removed the RR I noticed the alarm cables that had been routed behind the RR mounting had chaffed. Well that explains why my alarm fuse had blown last week whilst I measured the alternator output voltage, but why a 15 Amp fuse for an alarm, I replaced that with a 10 Amp, but that is probably still over rated..

This is the second time I have caught loom damage. Is this a Suzuki phenomenon or do all bikes suffer it?.

Tim...It's a Suzuki mate! I thought you would have known that such things are synonymous with the brand? Rather than the scurrilous rumours that suggest such things are more prevalent on Italian machines! :P
