oooo

yes its true

I bought a smaller plate as I didnt like the massive one I had...

pondered about the "undertray" and snow shovel and prospect of cutting it.

It wasnt too nice weather today so I was peed from not getting up the cat n fiddle..(will do tomoz- and pics !!) so i just thought sod it- and went for it.. with planning of course..!!

so heres the pics and some info.. nb- the pointing on the wall. is not my work !... inherited and needs raking out and re doing .!(and i aint got me jet wash out for spring clean of the flags yet- so no comments!?

all my plates- new one on the right (hee hee) ..
NB- cant be bothered to cover my plate up.... so yea I know my reg is on show.

more pics

I knowabout my square tyres- I know about my chicken strips thank you- and I know my bike is not as clean as normal.. but my fatehr in law been ibn hospital so it has had to not be cleaned every 5 mins... !!

OK... so basically -

just simply cut down the old big snow shovel with a fine plastic blade on a jigsaw...it cuts really neat and just needs tidying up with a stanley knofe after to remove some burrs....

marked it out the shape I wanted with a marker pen (which came off with wd40 easy after)

then just offered up the new plate and placed it so that the holes would be on the yellow section and not hide the lettering..... this meannt drilling a couple more holes just slightly lower in the now smaller snow shovel...!!

of course i drilled small pilot holes and then drilled again with a larger drill after...

packed out between mudguard and the plate with a double piece of that non slip webbing- just to absorb any shocks.. and a couple of washers on the back and bobs yer number plate !..

retains the reflector and the number plate light... same indicators- etc etc - just a smaller plate- migt not be everyones bag.. but I think it looks ok..

remains to be seen if my back now gets covered in muck !!.....

top cuts near to the indicators had to use a junior hacksaw with nice new blade in nd it cut very very easy,...

it is daunting hacking in to it... but it cuts nice n simple and clean..

MARKED OUT WITH PEN THE CUTS AFTER OFFERING UP THE NEW PLATE TO IT ABOUT 40 TIMES TO CHECK

then sylvia came infrom the shop(neighbour)..

Sylvia- ooo he doesnt live inthere now- the otheres beat him up!..he goes in the shed..

hence.! my good deed wa sundone and I had to enter the coop and get rocky out without releasing any of the others!< u ever tried it.. boy its fun!......

Looks good my friend and with the added bonus of less aerodynamic drag. 8) It should be worth an extra Horsepower or two.

What a valuable contribution there! Makes me wonder why someone would even take the time to post if that is the best they can offer. :?

Hey Quiff, nice job so far.

But to finish it off you really wanna get yourself some slimmer indicators mate.

Something like this...

I did a similar thing. I thought of doing what you have done but then just went for the easy option and cut across the line that exists about 2 thirds down.
I find it gives me more peace of mind that way that when i do motorways there isnt a lot of pressure on the plate frm the wind and so it wont go flying off.

But then my plate is only held on by velcro with the bolts done up finger tight.
For a quick whip off job when i pavement park in London. :D

The indicators i have on there btw have been modified and i had to make some brackets to hold em on. Notice the little screw heads on either side of the plate, level with the cators ;)

they look nice matey - !
I am very tempted...

but worry about fitting etc... and then I would have to change the front ones too.. and the wife wud notice ! and ask how much!??..

I like the velcro quick release idea- I might have to apply it to my boxer shorts..!

I was concerned actually about it not having enough support.. but it is securely bolted and I have put some "cushioning" between the plate and the mudguard..

weather as it is I aint ridden it all weekend- so will let u know if it falls off.!!!
