I know you said 3 but these are the most often listened to  :D
I think its pretty consistent. Other than Nightwish, none of the other albums is less than 16 years old at least. :D
Only three.
To be honest I'd have to pick a lot more so my three are just a selection of my favourites.
Frank Zappa - Sheik Yerbouti
Zappa's a sort of love him or hate him sort of character. Picked this album because I've consistently listened to it over the years and never get tired of it.
REM - Automatic for the People
A diverse range of tracks which just seem to strike a chord with me.
Motorhead - Another Perfect Day
I know a lot of Motorhead fans would criticise me for picking this album as one of my favourites, but to me Brian Robertson added a real depth to this album. Shame he didn't work out.

2. Led Zep I, or III (can't decide. I hear that IV is pretty good too :D)
3. Nick Cave - Let Love In, or Robert Plant - Fate of Nations, or the Stones - Sticky Fingers, or ... I give up. There's no way I can narrow favourite albums down to just three.
Just the 3? Tough call. Plenty to mention but these 3 probably shade it for me.
Korn - Korn
Metallica - Master of Puppets
System of a Down - Toxicity

I'm not very good at these.
1) Therapy?- Troublegum. Or So Much For the Ten Year Plan, their "greatest hits"
2) Biffy Clyro: Joy Discovery Invention
3) Sepultura: Beneath a Pale Sky (live album)
and I'm doing a 4th, because I can't leave it out, Master of Puppets by Metallica.
I'd love to have put Muse, ...And You Will Know Them By The Trail Of Dead, and the Wildhearts in there, but neitehr's done a single album that's as good- you could put 10 tracks from across either band's career on a CD and it'd be the best album in the world, but the actual studio albums aren't quite that good.
Hmmmmm, so many albums so little time
I havent really got any favs at the mo. The 3 recent albums i brought however
The hardest way to make an easy living - The streets
Eye to the telescope - K T Tunstall
Whatever you say i am thats what im not - Arctic monkeys
That combined with a couple of dance/compliation albums

I really really love Symphony X's Twighlight in Olympius and The Oddysee (spelling!). Both exceptional albums, and I like how alot of the songs are stories.
There's a band called suspyre (www.myspace.com/suspyre (http://www.myspace.com/suspyre)) who are awesome. Completly amazing.
But their albums arn't avaliable outside the US, so I can't have them :(
Matt
Hmm, if I cut out the favourite albums that I always skip a song and list albums I listen to all the way through. And it changes with mood but having a think probably:

Ah sorry, I forgot about Ed's reply, I'm more into Brahms myself. The 4th symphony is pure lush, if ever-so-slightly depressing. Bach's Cello Suites also float my boat, and I'm a sucker for the Toccata et Fugue in D minor played on a really nice organ. :geek:
Oh, I don't know, right now I suppose:
Pixies - Doolittle
Boards of Canada - Music has the right to children
The Frames - Set list
or maybe
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing
but then again
Deus - No more loud music
and also...
Hmmmm....... guess my age time........... ;)

Never Mind the ******** - Sex Pistols
Rattle and Hum - U2

Ed is about the only one with taste
I like metal because I play guitar; there are some fantastic guitarists out there in the metal world (michael romeo, Alexi Laiho, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen and so on) that have inspired me to learn guitar, and keep on learning. But I've also been led onto some classical stuff; Paganinni's caprice's kick ass and are very difficult to play - but I have a go anyway
And the bikes come seperatly, because I enjoy motorcycle racing.
So its coincidental with me, really.

I got the same feeling out of Malmsteen. :-k
Have you tried Dream Theater's "Octavarium"? Heavier than some of the rest, very intricate melodies and harmonies happening, and Mike Portnoy (drums) is getting heavier by the minute. It may take a while to get into you, mind.

You did? I started off with Malmsteen's Seventh Sign album, which I found very very cool. And the guy is nuts - watching his instructional vids made me laugh, but he has a big ego!
I'll give that dream theater album a go, see if I cant immerse myself in ultra-accuracy geetar playing...
