3 points and £60

I got that for doing 61 in a 50, so 11 over the limit, James was doing 109 and a bit, nearly 40 over the limit. No justice, I should have been let off, and James should have been banned

Bit of a result that one!

Thats a weight off the old mind I bet!

Glad that your not facing the prospect of public transport for the next year or so.
I can't imagine that and working in a bike shop.

Sooner or later they will get me too.
I just hope its later.

Hally...I still think you deserve to be whipped across the bare bottom with a dead fish. Only problem is, you would probably take far too much pleasure from the punishment! :P

Not really? People were saying he'd get banned, that i was talking rubbish about the charge as i said to defend yourself against it, told me I didn't know what i was on about (Yeah, cos this lot know me  ) etc... I predicted 6 points, and that he'd get off with a ban...

He's got off better than even I thought. MUCH better. I really would count your lucky stars that your only got the fine and points you did!!!!!!

Why do you talk as if your input somehow had any influence over the result?

I maybe wrong, perhaps hall went to court as you suggested, but he hasn't said that. Otherwise, a ban was a likely outcome, the fact that he didn't, and that it subsequently tied up with your prediction is nothing more than luck on your part.

indeed i never went to court in fact it would appear the police officer put a lower speed on the ticket to what he actally clocked me @. thus i got 3 ponts & £60 rather than a court apperance & etc...

Have to say that I disagree.

Why would the police put a lower speed on the ticket? Only reason I can think of is, they know that they're bound to get a conviction. If they'd put the full speed on, chances are that more people would argue. If they put say 94 on it instead of 109, well wouldn't you roll over? Can't help thinking that a conviction was all that mattered so as to maintain conviction rates, and that justice has not been served.

Figures is all that matters well it is in Strathclyde. Well done for you for getting away with it. Smug time is called for

Well the "Points don't mean prizes" system has recently been introduced here in Spain. Not before time as the death rates on the roads here each year are simply ridiculous!

Just like in the UK the cut off mark is 12 points. However a speeding conviction carries a 4 point penalty!

Stupidly in my view though, discarding litter from a car carries more points than using a mobile phone when driving!

Warren
22-07-06, 01:49 PM
well, it all depends on the "litter in question"
disposing of a used fridge while driving should carry more points than using a mobile :)

well thanks for all the comments, i have most defo learnt my lesson. & i have decided to invest in a radar detector

Would that work in this case? I thought they would have clocked you with video and the calibrated speedo, not radar...

Noooooooo nothing i've said is of any relavence now as he never took it to court.

However, if I COULD have saved him all points and a fine, then I would :) Do it for anyone
