View Full Version : ZX10R shock swap
Hello, I'm sticking a ZX10R shock in my bike in place of the soggy Suzuki one and was wondering what mounting bolts I need to fix it in.
Looking at previous posts about this conversion I think I can use either GSXR1000 shock mount bolts or the ones that are for the ZX10R - unfortunately I will not get the bolts with the shock.
Does anyone know what bolts I need to get or if I need to get a specific size, what size.
Also need to replace a Radiator bolt so if anyone knows what this one is that would be great,
Cheers

Red 5 I did this last week ; I bought a M10x60 bolt which I cut down for the bottom bolt( It has to fit between the Dog Bones) . The upper bolt was one that came with the shock but it was probably M10x55 .
The battery box requires a bit of abuse to make it fit ; cable ties are handy as is some foam/ rubber to isolate the shock reservoir from the battery.
It makes a hell of a difference tho'.
Hope this helps Joe.
Thanks it does.....I'm not getting any bolts with the shock unfortunately, so can I use my existing top bolt to fix the shock again?.
I've seen on another SV forum a guy said you can put the top SV mounting bolt at the bottom, then get a gixer thou mounting bolt and put that at the top meaning no need to trim bolts.......not sure if this is true?.
Looking forward to it - putting some ohlins springs in the front with 15w oil, I'm 15 stone plus and the ZX10r shock in the rear as my current suspension has gone off.
Cheers

I'm putting mine in this weekend (I have already started but dues to my poor spanner set I'm off to buy a complete set), I wasn't sure if any bolt would do so I got mine from Kwak. I'm gonna try stiking the suzuki on at the bottom like TSM said.
Edit: the top bolt is far too long to use at the bottom but the kwack bolt will fit if you put a washer on the opposite side to the nut.
Cheers, I've got a gsxr1000 bolt and nut on order which is an M10 55 which other people have said fits without the need to trim on the bottom, I think the kwak one is an M10 60 so 5mm longer.
Wasn't much at all and ordered it from Fowlers in bristol, very easy but then I did know the part number.
Let me know how it goes - I'll be doing mine in about 2wks time so if you come across any problems, give me some warning ;-).
Cheers - hope it transforms the bike, mine is so bouncy at the moment!
