I've got 2 tattoos at the moment to my employer's disapproval  so I want another one now. Don't know what, but want it on my lower back (possibly).

I've got an Aztec eagle in black and red which is on my left upper arm which measures 10 cms by 10 cms and on the other side a 12 cm long indian feather with red and yellow beads dangling from it. The feather has been tattooed to give the effect it goes through my skin.

Any ideas what other tatoo I could have? :smt100

Be a little different. Take a look at Egyptian hyrogliphics(SP),they look really cool.(Carlos Checa has a band of these on his upper arm depicting various symbols)

Then again females with tats is not now so "yesterday"? :?

tats on chics can be either cool, sexy or totaly slutty imho. Depends on the tat and where it is.

I like tats on chics :P

I like my tats cos I can cover them up and look very feminine or for shock value, show them off in work

OK they may be so "yesterday" but then so are speedos on men, but it doen't stop them wearing them . Aren't they tatooed on??

Um, don't they really hurt?

And isn't Yellow the most painful colour?

I ask as I've always fancied the smiley face from the Watchmen Graphic Novel, but I'm a bit of a big girl's blouse when it comes to pain & needles.

Depends how you deal with pain. It does hurt, but it's quite bearable. You get a bit of a rush as well.
I don't know about yellow being the worst; I wouldn't have thought it would make a difference, since the pain is the needle jabbing you, not the ink.
Where you have it done is probably the main factor in how much it hurts. Face, neck and hands are some of the worst. Stomach apparently isn't fun and I can vouch for the kidney area being a bit tender. Some say the spine is bad, but I found it to be fine, it's just the area about an inch either side that smarts a bit. Chest is alot less painful than people claim.

mmmm he does look good in that film!! And Wesley's Tat in blade is awesome looking too (And Yes I am fully aware they're fake!!)

I myself, change my mind too much, so won't even conside it!! But perhaps my childs name around my finger or something small, but I am a big needle wuss too!!

I think you have to have the right persona/attitude to carry it off, Mrs Jolie-Pitt for instance, looks fab with hers, she's kick ass, and she suits them... Amen!

Also big burly men suit them too...

Kinvig....... yes they do hurt be silly to say they dont really ..

if I was to describe the pain it would be like laser sunburn.

PH .. I agree they may not necessarily be required to further embelish anyone however personally I didnt get them for anyone elses gratification or to enhance myself in anyone else's eyes.

I love tats on gilrs. The g/f has a nice on on her belly too ;)

Gotta find a place on me where the one i want works.... cos ive had to rule out the soles of my feet. The tat guy told me it wouldnt last more than 5 or 6 yrs cos the skin on the sole of your feet replaces itself so often.

Yeh that tool, but i would have put up with it if it lasted a long time. Going thru it every 5 or 6 yrs put me off the idea tho.

Um, don't they really hurt?.
Depends where you have it done. Sole of the foot and peak of the elbow are 'supposedly' most painful parts to get done. inner bicep stings like hell, across the spine hurts as does just below the belly button  But then again it all depends on your personal threshold, i like to think mines pretty high.
And isn't Yellow the most painful colour?.
No one colour hurts more than any other. The difference in pain is when they go from outlining to shading. when shading they use a thicker needle that goes ever so slightly side to side aswell as in & out so that shading doesn't take an eternity.
I wish I had the balls to have one like Clooney in 'From Dusk till Dawn' 8) 8) 8) .
My brother has the part between the elbow and cut off just above shoulder. took 4, 1 hour sittings to get black and fully filled. He's also got a tribal one on his lower abdomen, wings, his name & a large cross on his back and then the smaller tribal one on his right arm.
http://upload4.postimage.org/688427/JimsTat.jpg (http://upload4.postimage.org/688427/photo_hosting.html)
I have a tribal one on my arm but it was deisgned by me and the tatooist so it's totally unique. Then i have my nickname just under my bellybutton :D Wanted it in hebrew/latin/something else down inside of forearm but working in an office kinda resticted that  .
http://upload4.postimage.org/688523/mytats.jpg (http://upload4.postimage.org/688523/photo_hosting.html)

The one on my back was designed by me over 3 seperate stages and i'm thinking of extendng it again  , but i don't have a picture of that.

Stormspiel - Nice tattoos m8. Both the feather (although lotsa people have them now) and the aztec eagle was hand drawn onto my arms first. Took an hour for the feather and three hours for the eagle.

My very first tattoo though I had a few years ago was the caramel bunni. Got bored of her though so had the eagle tattooed over her.

As far as pain Kinvig, the bigger the tattoo, the longer it takes, the less it hurts cos the body part being tattooed just goes numb after the first hour!!

Peter Henry, how can you claim you're a modern man when you have such STRONG opinions on what looks good on a female or not in your case  .

I've got a very feminine figure with curves in the right places (I think the picture proved that!), I wear my eyeliner and lippy and I ride a GSX-R600. Am I less of a woman because I ride a supersports bike or the fact I have tattoos that if I chose can be hidden? :D

oooh Lucy...No need to shout now.

The fact that I would consider myself to be a modern man does not detract from what I might find to be appealing in a woman. This not about being pc nor following the crowd.

Why have so many women in recent years apparently joined the "must have" rush to get a tattoo, when not too long ago they were frowned upon even for men? Sorry if I am standing outside of the loop on this one.

I do not recall the photographs to which you draw my attention to, although they do have some appeal based on your description. However trying to distract me from my point by using such graphic descriptions is a liitle unfair. :?

True, when my friend wanted one, she had several pictures of faeries, but she didn't want exactly one of them, she wanted different parts from each e.g. the wings from one, the face from another etc. So I drew her final faerie using all the features she wanted :) It's a combination of several different faeries. So voila, she has a kick ass faerie with butterflies trailing behind it, designed by me just below her ribs spanning from her front to her back... now how cool is that! :) A little something to remember me by :)

I'm not just a geeky scientist I'll have u know ;-)

Tara..Well I had seen earlier how you planned to deal with your questionable assistant and thought it best to tread very carefully! :P

Would you like to borrow my shovel?

I think Peter would rather have a loan of somebodies fishing rod. I think his has got somewhat overused

During the great Cuba Missile crisis of the 60s, I was going out with a hippy chick. Being politically active, she had Nikita Kruschev tattoed on her left inner thigh, and JF Kennedy on her right inner thigh. Politically correct huh?

Later, I discovered she seemed to have Fidel Castro in between them........ :? :?

My first tat was done during a night which will ever be remembered as the loneliest of my life. First night in borstal at age 13. My only companions were a bic biro and a broken darning needle and so my inspiration took shape.

I always liked the UN- tattoo. This guy had seen the kanji for "unbreakable", but it was too big for his arm, so he went with half of it. UN-!

Phil...Well after my first spell in borstal I seemed to adopt more of an affinity with Oscar Wilde for some obscure reason? :?

Northy's tale reminds me of the first tat I had done on leaving borstal. Man it took 8 hours to complete!

I decided it would go on a rather sensitive appendage which to be done correctly needed to be in err hum....an alert state.

problem was every time the needle touched something decided to play turtle. Constant cajoling to bring back to required state left me drained I can tell you!

Any way the work of art complete and so on said appendage one can see the word "LUDO"

However if in a state of err hum readiness it reads.....

L L A N D U D N O! :P :P

As a tribute to my favourite film Mary Poppins, I have 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' tattooed in 1cm letters along the length of my King Billy.

I'll let you do the maths, ladies

Just FYI, "King Billy" is northern irish rhyming slang for "belly".
