I gave my mate a few designs to play around with a while back. He's come up with two really cool half sleeves for me which are based on these;

I've had them both done twice. One was, errm, ripped out, so had that redone, and fancied having the other vertical rather than horizontal, so that went as well.

To be fair I fell headfirst out of a second story window onto cobbles in Romania. The nipple was the least of my worries.

You should try getting your tongue done.. For less swelling they'll do it without an anesthetic, and it takes a fair bit of work to make the hole big enough!

My tongue was a really simple job. They've not been allowed to use local anesthetic since 1997. Anywhere still using it falls under the category "dodgy".

Very tempted in the past but i go thru differing periods of "yes definitely" to "not sure"

My DIY usually involves a man in a tool belt coming round. I don't mind buying the stuff, but I'd rather someone else did it for me. We have to support our lone tradesmen etc.

Unless you're circumcised it just looks odd to be honest. I've got quite a few (7) tats but can't be bothered getting photos right now. Wait until I'm running around naked and drunk at AR07 for the full display:p

Vertical Clitoral Hood piercing, with a straight BCR bar in her case. She and other girls I know who are into piercings say of all the ones they'e ever had, the VCH is the one they'd certainly miss the most. Unbelieveably good once they've healed, and healing is quicker than nipples. All the girls reckon they are only painful for about a minute afterwards too, as opposed to nipples which can be painful for days.

Yep, gotta agree with that. Mine bled like Hell for a few minutes, but didn't hurt at all and was fully healed within 5 days. I have a titanium bar, a ring is too uncomfortable in leathers:D
My nipple, on the other hand, hurt like ****, which is why I'll only ever have the one done:D

None of the girls I know could get on with rings, all wear bars now (from what they tell me, I don't have eye witness proof of all of them)

Mine didn't hurt too much at the time or afterwards, but when my eldest daughter got hers done aged 19 I went with her (not to watch, but to give her some support cos her mum was dead against it) and she screamed the shop down. She left there in floods of tears vowing never to go through that again, then went back a few days later and had the other one done because she felt "unbalanced".
Unbalanced??? I'd bloody say so, she must be certifiable going back to suffer that much again. In the end she couldn't get on with them because they wouldn't heal, so took them out and settled for a subtle tattoo on her back instead.

I'm quite happy just to have the one. It healed fine, and I've never had a problem with it, but I still don't want the other one done. I had one done 'cos Pete dared me too:rolleyes: It's a good job he was at work when I got home or I'd have castrated him for making me go through so much pain:D
I have one tattoo too, a dragon on my bum. Again, I don't intend to have another, not because it hurt, but because I've never yet found anything else I'd really like that would fit where I wanted it:D

did think about having the other one pierced but not keen but never say never ;)

Tris (my bloke) has a tribal style unicorn head with my name in chines under it, he now wants 2 full sleeves doing!
PMSL at the monkey tat...I've got a few tattoos (some of which are a little bit substandard...I was young and stupid) and have had a few piercings but I've removed them all atm! My pride and joy is a tat that I designed, it's on my lower back and is fairly big...will post it when I get a chance :)

Who wants to see my tattoo's?
(this is a trick question and can you guess what it is...)
Tattoos, piercings - never understood them. Most look cak, and most wouldn't do it if it weren't so "trendy" at the mo'. It's like the very definition of fashion victim :)
I might open a branding parlour, get a few cool people to put their name to it and burn silly pictures onto people for money :)
/end playful cynicism :)

You admit you don't understand... so how can you comment on why people get them? :p I think you'll find that MANY people want a tattoo for a while, fashionable or not, and after a lot of thinking get one (seeing as it's not so easy to get one whilst under the influence these days).
I wanted one when I was a teenager, but sensibly didn't get one until I was sure... when I was 33. Similar with motorbikes... I wanted one when I was a teen... didn't do my das until I was 30-odd...
So NYAH to you. :smt036
I designed all of my own tats, would never get an off the shelf piece of flash. They all mean something.
The 16 piercings we mainly through boredom
*My first one is of my own design,
*my 2 unicorns are drawings i loved so had them turned into tattoos,
*i have chinese symbols for the people i i am very close to and love in my life
*The only two "flash" ones i have are my tiger cub and tiger/tribal" but ive ALWAYS loved the designs
*Puss in boots is from shrek 2, just loved the sad eyed look he does so got it captured in a tattoo (and ive yet to see someone else have him done like it  -esp as hes actually in boot)
*I had the date i passed my bike test done on my lower back as it was real achivement for me, and its a very personal and emotional thing for me
*And last but not least...my Paws...bit of fun/ice breaker :smt036
My next one is going to be 2 dates, one of which is my bike test pass date.
You admit you don't understand... so how can you comment on why people get them? :p
Heh well since tattoos and piercings are fairly simple things, I thought it was fairly clear that by "never understood them" I meant never understood why people would get them. :)
I'm certain most if not all men get things done just so they can be seen to have had them done or say they have, it's seriously vain imho, I mean - how much pleasure can a tattoo give you if you don't spend time displaying it or telling people about it? Would you ever get a tattoo and never tell anybody about it, just look at it and think "oooh yeah, my armpit looks way better now"? And if a girlfriend wants you to get one or just likes them, well screw that, that's no reason to semi-permanently graffiti yourself, unless you're vain.
Seems like everybody (my age, 25) has a tattoo or piercing these days, the odd thing is that in an effort to distinguish themselves they just join the ever growing club.
/friendly rant, lots of my close friends have tattoos, it's nothing personal.

Just dont come into a thread for people who DO like them and wanted to compare/show off what they have had done, say what you have and then try and hide behide "its nothing personal"

Erm hang on, its not just guys that have tattoos. and its certainly not vain, my ink gives my hours of pleasure as i know how much hardwork and skill went into creating some of the beautiful pieces of art that i have choose to cover my body in-im quite happy to sit and look at tattoos for hours, my tiger/tribal is the most detailed one i have-yet its hidden as it so big i had to have it down my thigh, i love looking at all the fine lines, the different shades of colours etc.My grandad was a tattooist-so you could say its in my blood
And its a ever growing club as tattoos are finally becoming an acceptable thing to have.

I'm not trying to hide behind anything. If I was so concerned about upsetting people I wouldn't have posted at all. I just thought that I wouldn't be doing that because we're all grown ups, it's just my opinion, and genuinely not a criticism of anybody just an explanation of why I don't understand why people get tattoos. But yes, I do think that vanity is a major reason behind people getting "body art", it doesn't mean you're fashion obsessed, or shallow, but you are probably a poser :) Nothing wrong with that, you could ask why I spend £10 on a haircut when someone could do it for a couple of quid. Maybe there's someone that doesn't understand haircuts :)

I was a bit harsh I guess, bad day at this end.
I guess the key part of it is that you dont understand (as you have already said).
My Tattoos are all designed by myself, have taken years to get to the point where I wanted the design on me forever, and I am very proud of them.
The one on my right shoulder, which is also to the left of this text, and is also on my bikes numberplate has become part of my identity, people who have seen the symbol come up to me and know who I am, its not about hiding it, or not letting people see it, I often get stick for wearing "wife-beater" sleeveless T-shirts, just because I want to show off what I have had done.
However I am, and will always be, careful to never get anything done that I cant conceal if needs be, some people are offended or intimidated by tattoo's and if thats the case then it doesn't hurt me or cause me any problems to put on a longer-sleeved t-shirt.
They are VERY personal to me, hence why I took the "nothing personal" thing the way I did, after many years of dealing with the internet, in Newsgroups and BBS's in the old days, to IRC and now web forums, you get people who put themselves forwards, say things, but then say that they "didnt mean it" after they have provoked a reaction, I guess you hit a nerve.
One thing that we have in common tho, is that like you, I dont understand people who just walk into a tattoo studio, leaf through the flash and just pick the 1st one they "kind of like".

Oh, and it WAS me that started this whole thread :P
Hmm interesting thread.
I don't have any tattoos (save an ink dot in my palm where I stabbed myself with a felt nibbed pen once) and I'm unlikely to get any in the near future. I was brought up by parents that "don't approve" if you will and I've took that on board.
If they weren't permanent then things might be different. I'm not ruling it out at some point in the future but tbh the only thoughts I've had about it result from a situation I don't want to face any time soon. As some have said it would be for me a deeply personal thing and it would have to be something that defined me or something important to me, at least for me. At the moment I can't think of anything up to the job.
I don't have any piercings either and I don't think I ever will. That all said branding as a method of scarring intrigues me. I've often thought of that. Sort of same thing as with tattoo, it'd have to mean something and there's nothing I can think of that does. I do have some scars that are mine, though they are all but invisible now. I've thought about adding to them in the past, but I doubt I will.
PS: SoulKiss - Yep your "SoulKiss" tattoo (as that's what I htink of it as) was very useful at Fox's :-) And I like the way it links the physical you, to the you here and the bike to you.
