Pretty Unique as well, design them yourself? or are they from something.

Thanks! :)
Both designed by myself.
The black one was inspired by another tattoo or design I saw somewhere, Victoria Train station seems to ring a bell, and was designed fairly quickly, it was done in Atlanta in the USA
The red one's earliest iteration dates back to '95, and evolved into what it is now - used to have a couple of more complex curves in it, but I simplified for ease of making new copies :). That one was tattoo'd in Louisville, USA
Planning on having them both "extended" into full shoulder/back/chest works - want it to look like plate armour, a bit like
http://www.chaoscrypt.com/tats/nutz_armour.jpg
the piece pictured is by a guy at Nutz in Ware, tho will probaby be less "busy".

Guess I'll drag this out again...

I've got a design in mind for myself but I keep telling myself I'll hold off doing it until I'm back in shape again...and that ain't going to happen too soon
Hell I was happy enough when I got my labrett done.
I love the plate armour Idea!
My only defence is that it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Kinda manipulated from 3 or 4 seperate designs to get it how i wanted. The rest you've seen already i think.
It's a flaming tear drop.
... and as for seeing the front I DO have a strappy top on in that pic so tuff nose-nuggets, losers. ;)
Edit: that pic was taken a day or two after I'd had it done so it's a little chunky.

Dammit, you lot keep reminding me to get my next design sorted. Partway there, now, though, will need to enlist the help of a decent artist to clean up my attempts.
Got a couple of other things planned, too, but can't do those till I have a car.

Go for it !!!
Just dont go into somewhere spur of the moment, look at the flash and say "one of those please"
Take time, work out something you really want, wait a month or two, look at it again and then if you are sure, go for it.
Thats what I did - tho the month or two was actually year or two :)

coombest those tattoo's are mental 8) , who came up with the designs?
I haven't got a tattoo yet but have been thinking of this:
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k164/DarrenStewartTait/1.jpg
I've had it as my desktop for a while now to make sure I don't get bored of the design, and I definitely aint! But I'll be waiting at least a few months before I think about going for it. I'm gonna get it across the top of my back.
I am a leo star sign and I just love the proud and majestic look of this pic. I searched google and this was the best I could find. I want it in back/grayscale
Couple of questions:
1 Is there a program that can convert images into what they would look like as a tattoo (long shot but cheaper than getting a design done  )
2 Can anyone recommend a GOOD tattoo place. I've heard good things about Yankee Tattoo (http://www.yankeetattoo.co.uk/) in Dundee
Oh and any opinions on the images are welcome :)
Was thinking of this thread t'other day.
Do any colours hurt more than others?
And do any colours fade? Thought I heard something about yellow needing retouched every few years.
Since 1980s, I've wanted the smiley face with blood streak from Watchmen but I'm a bit chicken with blood & needles.
Carsick
17-12-06, 04:53 PM
The colours will all feel the same.
All will fade, but bold colours will usually noticably fade more than less bold colours; inks are improving all the time and a good artist can do wonders, though.
Every few years is probably unnecessary now. With a good artist maybe 10 years for the worst culprits.
, but I'm a bit chicken with blood & needles.
The needles are soo tiny you dont see them, and not everyone bleeds, im petrified of blood/needles but it hasnt stopped me having all mine done..and ive got another one being planned

Yep, that sort of piece would be probably be traced and then placed on your skin using some sort of purple stuff that leaves an exact copy. Don't know the exact terms - if you watch Miami Ink on Discovery Real Time at 10pm on Sunday nights and you should get an idea of how they freehand and how the stencil designs on.
Most of my tats are now 7 years old and the lines a thickening - I am in the process of having one redone already! Doh. I look after them and they never go out in the sun without factor 60 suncream on. Black and grey may last longer and the picture you posted is quite detailed and fine lines which none of mine are!
I have no idea of any recommended artist in your area but Ollie at The English Rose in Peterborough rocks! I am having a free hand piece done on my leg/foot and the outline so far looks awesome!
Sorry I missed you revived posty bit! Any questions just ask!
Good luck - research your artist before diving in!

Thanks for the tips minifun. :) I am going to get the tattoo over the whole width of my back so the lines won't be quite as close together as in the picture so hopefully there will be less chance of it blurring
Anyone recommend a London-based artiste?
Preferably blonde with boobs so I've got something to take my mind off of the pain! ;o)
I had my left arm and left leg done at Flamin' Eight (http://www.flamineight.co.uk/) in Kentish Town.
I think they're really good. My leg was done by Seth and my arm/shoulder by Naresh, the guy that owns the place. They're really friendly, helpful and welcoming, and they know their stuff.

a few suggestions for you then..
get your design and print it onto transfer paper .. the stuff that kids fake tattoo's are put onto then put it onto the place where you would like your tattoo to go. This will give you an indication of what it will look like on you.
I would suggest that the design you want you pin up somewhere where you will see it every single day .. stare at it for six months and if at the end of that time there hasnt been a day gone by where you havent still wanted to have it on you then go for it. Remember it's going to be there for a long time afterwards ;)
It really doesn't matter about other peoples opinions on your chosen tattoo as they arent the ones going to live with it ;)
As for suggestions as to where to go to have your tattoo's done this is a difficult question to answer. Different tattooist's have different styles and some are better at one art form then another. For example if you wished to go and have a portrait tattoo done then there are specialist artists for that who will not be so good at say Celtic art work.
The trick is to go to a tattooist and view their portfolio. All good tattoo studios will have a portfolio of their work on display so you can see the tattoo's that they have done. Most of them will obviously put their best work in this but it will give you an idea of what the artist is like.
There are tattoo magazines out there as well that will publish tattoo studio's works and it may be and idea to browse through these to give yourself a better idea of the kind of work the studio does. Skin Deep magazine is my personal preference but you will find your own.
Okay there are different ways of going about getting a tattoo and it's a very personal thing the above are just a few suggestions that I have found to prove good tools when getting a new tattoo done.

a few suggestions for you then..
get your design and print it onto transfer paper .. the stuff that kids fake tattoo's are put onto then put it onto the place where you would like your tattoo to go.

Good post anna cheers :thumright:
How would I get it put onto that transfer paper? I've got the image I posted as my desktop and I still really like it. I'll have a look for tattoo magazines. There will probably be some in W H Smiths I would think...
I know that you can print a design onto transfer paper .. just buy the paper put it in your printer and away you go.. it's similar paper to the stuff t-shirts designs are printed on. .. although not sure where you can get some from.. someone else might be able to help there.:?
W H Smith's dont normally have a wide selection of tattoo magazines as they are viewed not in good taste to have in stock  your more likely to find a wider selection in your local newsagent.
Some tattoo magazines are better then others most have just a wide variety of flash in them rather then pictures of actual tattoo's. Then you get those that just like taking pictures of breasts and have a tattoo somewhere on their stomach to be able to claim that it's not porn
Hope some of this stuff helps. :?

And yeh this stuff has been very helpful. Cheers :)
