View Full Version : How's your day been so far?

I don't want to speak too soon or brag knowing most of you are stuck in work, but mine's been bloomin' great so far.
Got up about 8.00am to kiss my girlfriend goodbye as she leaves for work for the day (I'm off all week :D ), pour myself another cup of coffee, butter some bread and then cook the obligatory bacon and egg filling. Browse t'internet for a while, watch Top Gear then decided to do the right thing and call in on my dear ol' mum.
When I'm not working, the car is not an option when it's just me travelling and when the weather's this nice so on with the kit and off I go, only to arrive at my mum's and find there's nobody home. Not a problem, I'll call tomorrow; that just leaves me with a full tank of fuel, an uncharacteristically gorgeous November day and plenty of time to kill.
It's very, very rare for me to ride during the day unless it's a weekend but today has been an exception and an absolute blast from start to finish. I live in North Wales and the roads truly are made for motorbikes, despite the local police force thinking it isn't  . The trouble is we have to share them with cars, trucks, HGV's and - worst of all - cars towing caravans
I won't bore you with the entire route but I've ridden some fantastically, amazingly brilliant roads today (the one that takes you north from Cerrigydrudion past Lake Brenig stands out; just me on my bike, Snowdonia National Park and the RAF - surreal, don't ask!) and can't recall being held up for more than a few moments - even 44 tonne HGV's were helping me out by moving to one side when it was clear to pass (thankfully, caravans are relatively thin on the ground this time of year). Is it always this easy during the day when you're on a bike?
I've only held a motorbike license for 4 years and only owned a bike for half that and the enjoyment, excitement and sense of freedom I've experienced today makes me wish I'd started sooner  Better late than never, I suppose...
Hope your day has been as good as mine :D :D
Lucky you.
My day has mainly consisted of two very boring meetings.
The second one kept me at work an hour longer than normal, that meant that I hit the worst of the traffic. I'd forgotten how much fun filtering through heavy traffic in the dark isn't.
Ah well, I'll get dinner started in a minute, chicken jambalaya tonight I think =P~

30 miles of filtering to work in the cold.
Working all day on a not fun project
35 miles of filtering in the cold, wet dark to get home

Went to the bike show with John and Daryl, met up with Richie Numbers and his friend Tess, so :D
The :( was problems at the office and then with the burglar alarm at home, but both appear to be resolved for now :D

My day consisted of a quick ride to work with the usual amount of filtering.
Accomplished a fair few tasks with minimal interruptions.
Rode home without incident.
Proceeded to install WoW for the first time. Failed on disk 5  . Second time successful.
Been waiting for an hour for the patch to download......
Got up at 05:30, took minibus + 11 others to NEC for the bike show.
meet up with a very good friend who I first met in Bosina in 2003, also met up with a few other sv.orger there...
you know who you are...
all in all a very grand day out.
ps.
glsuk1970 Glad you enjoyed yours too.

Rode in and 5 minutes from front door the Norwich Heavens opened up. Cold and wet.
Rain and hail and wind all day. Squeeze flaming on the email from Lynn.
But on the positive side, Permie pals at the Union didn't get the bullet in the 4000 chopper redundancy round - so smiles all round.
Didn't have the heart to ride bike back to cold yard, so left it in nice warm garage and walked the 20 minutes back home. Only 3 weeks and the contract is OVER and i am headed for the SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE where winter is only a rumour. Back in April.
Now that will be a gooooood day. :)
ALL I CAN SAY IS ****, **** ****.

Sorry to disapoint but mine was considerably better!!
Was woken at 7 with Paul and the 3 children singing me Happy birthday!
Was given a Cup of tea to drink and a bed full of presents including a big box of chocolates, A huge teddy with "Best Mummy in the world" across his t-shirt and a big gift box of Dove accessories.
Kissed Paul goodbye at 7.30 and got up. Came down a picked up a couple of cards from the mat that the postman had delivered.
Took the kids to school and then came back to meet my 2 best friends who came in for lunch. They brought with them 2 big boquets of flowers and a big box of cream cakes! We then went shopping where one of my friends paid for me to get my tongue pierced! :D
Came home after picking the kids up from school.
Then in the evening I had my entire family (Mum, 3 sisters plus sister-in-law + thier children) bombard me bringing with them a big birthday cake singing Happy birthday to you!
Went to bed at 10.30 knackered and with my tongue swollen but boy what a GREAT day I had!!
:D :D
Well Happy Belated birthday to you!
as for today, its just poo so far
Happy Boirthday Baby J :D for yesterday
Thanks guys! :D
Sorry didn't mean to derail the thread!

That's commuter terratory for me. Yes I do get to the office & get home every day with a big huge cheesy grin on my face!
The truck drivers always help out, never seen an a-hole truck driver around those parts yet (almost 8k miles worth of travel). Caravans haven't been a problem this year, due to the A5 being closed off for the worst part of holiday season. Normally though, when you're used to the road, a gentle squeeze & you're past them, even on the shortest of straights.
I can usually be found with my bike parked by Llyn Ogwen, and me half way up the mountain in the summer. Great place to retreat & loose yourself in the world. The feeling of insignificance is great when you're going through a stressful time.
Once you get to know the roads, it's truely heaven. Although, my favourite part of the commute home is on the A55  but only when you pass those beautiful signs saying "Delays at bridge"... delays? What delays
If you fancy a ride one weekend, give me a shout!
EDIT: Looking at your avatar, I've probably passed you a lot on the A5. More so back when I was driving the car though.
Also, BabyJ, happy birthday!
Ahem, my day is pretty dull. I really should put some clothes on and get something constructive done. Breakfast kinda merged with lunch while I was on here and surfin' ebay...
Also, BabyJ, happy birthday!
Thanks Baph :D
As for today pretty boring really! This is my 1st of 2 weeks off sick due to knee trouble and all I'm doing is housework  Not complaining really as it's giving me the chance to get the bits done that I wouldn't normally get done that often like cleaning the windows etc This is in between surfing the net and the org of course! :D

Man you can go fast up there. Some real blind crests though! The road down to Denbigh was entertaining too, was followed by a Fazer 1000 who would not pass and just sat hiding in my blind spot, right behind me! Odd person.....

I see a lot of that, idiots who like to hide in blindspots. Why oh why oh why?
Anyway, nice to hear you had a good ride Mike, whilst I was stuck in doing DIY :|
EDIT: Just for kicks after leaving your place that day, heading down the B5105 as you instructed, I hit the A5 & knew where I was, so detoured back up past Llyn Brenig to the A543 & left again back down to the A5. It made me late for home, but hey, it was a nice ride (even with a bald tyre in the wet )

Happy Birthday BabyJ, for yesterday anyway. How's the tongue this morning? At least it's something else to think about other than your knee.
Baph, how much fun must you have every morning on your "commute" to work?? Jammy sod  The A470 is a riot, no wonder you don't use the car much. Avatar piccy was taken at Bala Lake one evening but you probably knew that already!
We should definitely go for a ride out, seems like North Wales is the only area not represented in the "Regional Clubs & Get Togethers" section.
Cheers,
Gary.
PS I hope BabyJ is going to share the big box of chocolates with the rest of the .org
Thanks glsuk1970 :D
*Opens box of Dairy milk and offers them around*
Tongue is very swollen and very sore thank you! I tried eating some birthday cake this morning.... OUCH! I Ended up having a tin of soup..... through a straw!
I don't regret having it done tho :P :D
Happy belated birthday baby J :D
Next time you're planning a day messing around on the bike, drop me a message. Even if I'm on-call I should be able to blag something. Like you, weekends are better for me.
Can't say I get down past Cerrigydrudion much, or southbound on the A470, but I'm happy to explore. My general area is anywhere on the island down the A5 to Cerrigydruidon, up through Ruthin & back to the coastline, back along the coastline home, sort of a triange area.
Weather is closing in a bit, and my front tyre is starting to slide a little (not good), but I'm definately up for a ride on sat or sunday.
Mike how does it sit with you? Work/family etc. Personally, give me around a weeks advanced notice, and I'm there. I could do with another trip to Northwich though (J&S), perhaps stop off & get a tyre at Buckley en-route.
BabyJ, thanks for the choc's & hope the tounge settles down soon!
Your welcome Baph, and so do I!
Thanks Tara :D

actually, have got the radio on, and am listening to the news... my day is not so bad after all :)
