Based on that report (and it is The Sun after all) the CPS should appeal the acquittal. (I think that's allowed). It is blatantly the magistrate looking after a copper. Would like some more facts though.

well, i say good luck to the guy.

he used his position to get away with 3 points, and he has.

i would do the same if i could :)

most of us break the speed limit, im about to go to tescos now, and i shall be breaking the speed limit.

but i know the law, if i get caught, fair play . . . but if i had a get out of jail free card, i would use it.

Kinda agree with you. I would do or say almost anything to avoid points and a fine (havent got any at the moment, **** knows how  ).
So........ *pauses, thinks again* fair play, yes fair play

While this is a clear case of what I would call corruption,it does highlight the stupidity of our speeding laws. Was doing eight MPH over the limit actually a hazard or a problem to anyone? We all do it,and if it was not a problem why make issue over it?The bigger issue is surely how easily our judicial system can be corrupted, and the question over whether it can be corrupted in cases involving real crimes.

Chief Constable Meredydd Hughes said on Friday: "This incident has obviously raised public concern and it is very regrettable that an officer should apparently have disregarded a speed camera under these circumstances.

Surely he means ignored the speed limit, not just the camera? Or is he insinuating that people speed on the approach to a speed camera, slow down to go through it and then speed up again?

I'm shocked! Such illegal, immoral and possibly borderline terrorist activity should be punished by being taken from this place and hung from the neck until rehabilitated into society!

It sounds like the magistrate found there was reasonable doubt... Which reading it, it looks like there is.
