View Full Version : rideout end of May
hiya folks, will have my raptor in my possession on bank holiday weekend at end of May. I will be going out and doing my favourite route, military road, wibbly wobbly, inverary for ice cream, oban for lunch, glencoe, green welly for ice cream round by lochearnhead maybe dukes pass if I have to.
If anyone fancies tagging along I will be leaving mcdonalds in balloch at 10am on sunday 27th May. If not :smt110

Looks like I'm off long rides for a few weeks now, Broke my wrist over a year ago year in a lil bike accident, took them too long to diagnose it as broken so didn't heal exactly as it should. Now I've just went and injured it at work today, not 2 sure of the damage, but my wrist is killing me just typing this with constant cramp pains and dull acheing and such. I need to take it easy for a while as I know the sv is bad on the old (and the young) wrist.

That's cos the bosses up North won't let me off on either Thursday or even Friday. I'm the only local Glasgow driver they've got to collect the goods from the Wishaw depot. Which means that I can only get a ferry over on either late Friday night or a saturday morning. It sucks big time...:smt093 :smt093
The bosses don't want employees taking a day off to catch a decent time ferry to go and watch motorbike racing and enjoying the Irish pubs. Doesn't stop the boss taking time off to go to Italy for a week though:mad:

just you watch out for daffodil encrusted roundabouts and neds in cars - still makes me giggle thinking about that story. lol

If I throw a sickie I'll lose my good attendance bonus, not to mention losing a days wages. Never been late or had a day off since October last year. I'll be taking two weeks off in June though for the TT.. that'll really **** them off and muck up their delivery schedule. But I don't care - I need a vacation to unwind soon or I'll go nuts. Edit that - I'm already driven nuts. Just need to keep a good attendance up until 3rd June and that's another £300 bonus paid to me.
In the transport game you aren't allowed a day off to catch a ferry, go the dentist, see a doctor, get to a bank or even get a social life. It's just not cricket me old boy..... you've practically to be dying or almost dead just to get a day off to see a doctor or dentist. (That's if you can get an appointment, then tell the transport boss 3 weeks in advance you've a medical emergency coming up:smt094 :smt094    )

You can't beat medication strength Pro-Plus plus strong coffee on a 14hr nightshift down to Liverpool docks from Bellshill and back up the road. Take too much and the end chemical effects on your body make you hyper, moody, mr. road rage white van man syndrome, and totally tired. Not to mention stopping at every 2nd service station for more anti-sleep pro-plus because your body gets hooked on the stuff..
That's why I stopped doing long nightshifts. I was turning out not to be a very nice social person..

i'd say, alloa - morrison's car park around 8.30 -
to give a bit time getting through and stopping off for a possible brekkie break.
Plus we have to make sure we have some moby numbers for the west coasters, just in case.
