Well what do you do ? faced with only a couple of months more riding then a couple of months in a cast and 4 more non-weight bearing, so a minimum of 6 month before you can even start the job of getting back any bend to the crash site which used to be my knee?

Buy another bike of course, isn't that what everyone does in this situation :smt102

Anyway, I took one out for a test ride back in 98 when they first came out and loved it but was on a power rush with my speed triples, so didn't really go that way, but tried sitting on one Thursday so bought one yesterday (cracking deal to), the CB will have to go, shame really as it's been a good old workhorse, but can't really justify anymore bikes around (this'll make 9 in total if I kept the CB).

So here it is, a pampered original 98 Hinkley Thunderbird sport

(and before you ask, no I don't know who's the SV is, but I will find out when I collect next week)

Cheers Mark.

Oh S*** Quiff I know this is the photo thread, but please don't.

Shiney bike Mark well done, looks better than the CB but shame you have to get rid of somthing that's stood you in good stead, waiting all these years for you. It had it's chance to shine and now your casting it aside.

Oh it had it's time in the sun before, done 4 Assen trips on the bruiser and a month or two commuting, but mainly it was bought to not rot away and it's done that.

A patient man ? well when it comes to bike perhaps not, rather than waiting for later in the week to pick it up, I went up yesterday and got it.

Rode back the 115 miles in some discomfort as it didn’t have a screen to brake up the wind and a slight concern over a handling issue (which turned out to be low rear tyre pressure),, but apart from that all was good.

First outing at the Ace where I meet some of the guys, achingly pretty bike and sounds like a .50 cal when at full chat, well happy.

Cheers Mark.

Very smart. Looks like a British equivalent of the ducati sportsclassic bikes (but more practical for day to day use). My girlfriend really likes the retor Triumphs.

:salut:

Have you informed it of the coming change of lifestyle and pace? I honestly had a chat with my ZX6R on the way home after picking it up: "OK, I promise not to abandon you in a shed for 4 years after covering a whole 2,900 miles like the last bloke did. However, you may never be this clean or pampered again. Deal?"

So far it's been happy

How can you tell it's happy, I'd be surprised if you could see it's expression under it's mud pack ;)

indeed although I don't feel it, no doudt there is a little shame somewhere such an achingly pretty bike will get some serious use and not the heated garaged life with the odd sunny sunday out, but hey, I bought it I'll ride it (always got pics of it clean to look at right ;) )

Cheers Mark.

How dare you! The ammount some people pay for a mud pack! It's all very flattering.... Though I started to suspect I might need to do some work when Jester666 offered to take it into work and have the couriers jet wash it for me....:smt109

well had the bike a week yesterday, 1026 mile so far, although it's 4/5ths it's normal annual mileage, it's a sweet as a nut, corners with the best of them, sounds awesome and even the tall gearing means less changing (important when each one hurts), so well pleased, it's sitting outside now fly splattered so could do with a clean, never know just might get one to (now where's that son of mine ;) ).

Cheers Mark.

...... 1026 mile so far...

Que? He he. The knee can't be that bad then! I've only done that on a Harley trip in the States! Nice bike. I thought it must be older the way you mentioned it in another post. DOH. Looks like the new Kwak Z1000 got it's pipe inspiration from one of those.
