Only happens as i pull away in high revs, and only pulling away. High revvs let the clutch out and then a horrible crunching scraping metal sound as i move away, only lasts for like a second. Anyone know what it might me?
Chain slipping? Sprockets ok?
(Guessing)
How tight is your chain ?

chain is tight, this sounds weird but it feels further forward then the chain and sprockets but then again it could be the front sprocket, sounds like it is on the left aswell, i thought maybe clutch is screwed but had a full service on it and it was doing it before and is still doing it.
Hi, no expert on these things but sounds like clutch to me, cos pulling away put max pressure on clutch, could be pressure plates ?

What sort of high revs are we talking about here?

How about using less revs to pull away?

Well yeah there is that, still doesnt solve what the problem is, it just hides it.

but the problem only happens when you rev it hard to pull away, metal scraping noises generally aren't good so if it's not making that noise it's unlikely to be causing any damage
Its probably the clutch. I wouldnt say its like metal against metal sound, but a sort of groan, much like a deeper verison of when you used to have wet brakes on a pushbike?

Yer its not all the time, seems more when i set out first time, once she's warm its all good. Ever looked into it?
Mine makes that noise when the engine isn't warmed up.
Solution: take it easy until the engine warms up.

I have other issues with my clutch though.

Mine did that too, for a long time- only ever when it was fairly cold, so I put it down to something in the clutch sticking, it'd usually deliver the power with a jerk too. Replaced the clutch with one of my spares, which doesn't do the CRUNCH but does rattle a lot ](*,)

if youre not sure what it is then get it checked out "metallic crunching noises" are never a good thing................better to spend £30 having someone look it over than £400 getting stuff fixed................

Hmmmm, yes it sounds like that's what it could be :( IMHO. See if you get the same result if you feather the clutch only not in 1st unless you do wheelies (disclaimer  ). Starting off is the only time your clutch slips at that degree until it bites unless of course you do wheelies and then you might hear it again.
