The start point is Box Hill because it's easy for everyone to find.

Meet time is 9am, we'll wait until 9:30am for people who have said that they will come on the poll or who text me.

We will be stopping for a proper cooked breakfast at The Chalet (Cowfold) and for icecreams/photos at Devil's Dyke and for petrol/loos at Ansty but please make sure you turn up with at least 70 miles worth of ptrol at the start.

Here's the route (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?om=1&ie=UTF8&msa=0&ll=51.113869,-0.214233&spn=0.381056,1.2854&z=10&msid=109769855508563908417.000438b3a54df112b2716)

The route is approximately 100 miles and will take about four and a half hours including allowing plenty of time for stops, so we should arrive back at Box Hill by about 2pm.

Hey all.

I live in westhuble, so opp boxhill (RH5 6AP).

I know some great fun little country roads Brockham, leigh and charlwood area. A nice circuit that lands you on the a25 2mins east from dorking on way to reigate. It takes about 40mins to do circuit although 20mins for half will get you to around charlwood = gatwick ariport, crawley a23 a217 area.

However 20mins is after using it to get to & from my internship placement (schlumberger, geophysical reserach). So more likely 40mins half and I woudl say 1hr 20 with others. Some v nice pubs around leight btw.

Also some great fun roads off the a25 between dorking and guildford.

Who will be organising the route? SOrry me new to this forum so what is the aim? Just a day's ride or an aim to get to somewhere?

Please drop me a line 07951 555 867 or email william.turner@imperial.ac.uk

A date has now been set for the GM autumn rideout. No route or other details have been decided yet.

The start point is likely to be Box Hill because it's easy for everyone to find and so as not to break from GM tradition it will probably be an earlyish start so we can stop somewhere for breakfast (possibly the Chalet).

Watch this space for updates.

Boxhill, chalet.... Deja Vu

I bet A272 is in the route cos it's the GM seaside trip (MK III) again!

nope.

i am in consultation regarding the route and it won't be the same as last time.

only picked box hill as a start point because most people know where it is.

if you have any hot tips about other good places to go for brekkie then let me know!

Hey William, nice to see you around, I remember you popped up before on some threads so hi again :) Sarah is organising this rideout and so hopefully shes taking some of those routes on board!

Do you have like a little map of your routes, that would be quite cool or even better stick it in the routes thread of the GM section, stickied at the top of the section.

The aim is just a medium paced blast round some good roads and taking in some food on the way and the odd pitstop for a drink and photos. The last couple have seen us down at Wittering for an ice cream and then back up to Newlands corner (another great bike place if you've not been)

The ride usually takes about a day, say start around 8-9 and finish 3-4 but you can kinda customise it and cut the journey short if you need to be somewhere, we wont mind...much :D

Hi Falc. Cheers for the heads up. Ive been speaking to sara about routes. Bit bisy at the moment but I have my usual blasts as Google Maps routes so I will share the link to maps.google.co.uk and make them public.

Wow! good memory. yes I did pop my head in about 9months ago and have been quiet since. Ive been on two internships and busy so no time for bike. However have just spent 5days with bike in bits. Never been so good now. WOW the difference changing the front fork oil for some propper stuff makes!!!

and steel brake lines .... hmmmmmmm .

will get back to you on routes, etc laters. Hope there a good turn out to the Ace Cafe's biker day tomorrow in london. ill be there taking pics for Jo.

Hey Kenny, welcome to the forum and to our little section of the forum! Cool choice on bike and you've got a naked SV, what model/colour?

Your more than welcome on the rideout, watch this thread for details such as start time but your in the right place to find like minded riders, I would say SV riders but theres not many users here that have there SV anymore including me!

Hope to see ya on the rideout

Ok cool, yer be good to see what routes you use and give it a blast :D

Yer I remember that because it was my rideout/thread you posted in, I live a sheltered life...

Ah thats a shame but glad your getting time on the bike now, yer the SV's front forks are pretty dire, fork oil and new springs do make a big difference and steel lines help if the lines are past their best, I had HEL jobs on mine.

Cool, post some pics up on the forum.

Hi there Falc, you've moved on from yer SV? What did you get? I'm hoping to enjoy my SV for a couple of years (plenty there for a first bike I think in that time) before I upgrade to perhaps a Triumph-Speed triple/Ducati-S4R/Benelli TNT. Ultimately I'd love to upgrade and hold onto the SV as I've never met/heard of anybody who has not regretted selling their SV!
FYI my lovely is a K6 naked 650 in black, very pleased with it and even with a fun Honda 250CRM/ KTM 960 Supermoto/ Harley Sportster XL[1200] in our garage I am fully satisfied that I got it right at the mo!
I'm very eager to learn as much as I can from other riders about riding and other owners about SV's, I feel quite obsessed really, in truth I'm hooked!

Hope to meet some on the rideout.

Hey, I had a black k1 half faired SV, the older curvy model and was a great blast, had that for a couple of years until I was rudely parted from it by a truck and got the bike written off and myself for a couple of weeks. I ride about on a 99 GSXR-600 SRAD now though not for a bit due to a acl operation.

Some good ideas there for your next bike and already a sizeable garage I see!

There should be quite a few of us on the rideout hopefully so fire as many questions as you can there.

I've not got a facebook so ill er have to look later :D

I'll get the spring out for you DD, it may be slighty bent but ill bend it back good as new

Cheers mate, it could really do with better springs with those gixxer calipers it's running. If you haven't got the time/inclination i'm quite happy to strip the fork leg down myself

Hello all!

I found my K4 through the for sale section here, and have been getting comfortable with the bike for a couple of months now - is my first. I live in Petersfield and would great to catchup with some past/present SV'ers.

Question is, how snappy is a 'medium pace' ride for you guys? I probably currently ride at fast-ish car speed, except along straights .... still get bikes overtaking me! Sound too slow for the rideout?! Be honest!

Cheers, Colin

Hey Colin, welcome to our little section, excellent news on the bike and sounds like you've been getting on ok with the bike.

You won't get left behind or anything like that, the pace is usually alright and you'll be fine. Whatever you do just don't ride at someone elses speed, ride at your own pace and everything will be tickity boo!

Hey Biccy g, welcome the forum and Guildford Massive, good to have you aboard!

Your best bet would be to head up the A24 and meet up with Sarah and EvilTwin who are around Horsham way and then from there up to box hill.

You should meet one or two SV owners at this meet and certaintly alot of ex-sv owners :D

Any of you peeps that have been up to Fox's before, how long do you think I should leave to get from Oxford to Box Hill? Is it easy to spot the meet (ie loads of bikes like fox's) or do i need a landmark?

There are normally loads of bikes there on sunny Sundays but I expect it'll be fairly quiet at 9am. Not sure of any good landmarks but I think the carpark is signposted.

What sort of route are you thinking of taking down to Box Hill? The quickest way would probably be m40, m25, a24, but fairly boring.

I can live with boring at that time of the morning, although the thought of squaring off my tyres on all that straight motorway makes me cringe. Do you think 1.5 hours will be enough?

Could someone PM me a mobile number to call if i'm gonna be delayed for any reason (or can't find the carpark). :help:

So, am I the only TVSF member going after all? surely there must be some other valleyers heading down that way??? - will ask in the section.

PM'd

RAC routeplanner thingy reckons 1hr 17mins (if you are lucky with traffic), but that's based on 60mph on motorways and 30mph on other roads, it's about 70 miles.

Remember to allow time to fill up with petrol before meeting up (there's a petrol station on a roundabout on your way to Box Hill), as the petrol stop on the route isn't until about 70 miles.

1 and a half hours should be more than enough, head for leatherhead, then A24 passed mickleham bends (all sign posted) to the next roundabout signed once again Burford bridge.

Boxhill is actually the municiple carpark at the bottom of Boxhill, you want to head for Burford bridge (hotel), landmark? carpark with Rykers burger bar.

Bugger.

Looks like the ongoing absence of lucre will see me abstaining from Sunday's bikinig antics. One of these months, I'm gonna be able to afford to turn up.... Unless, of course, then next one's not too long after the 25th of the month, of course- payday. Nudge, nudge etc

It's only the cost of 1 - 1.5 tanks of fuel plus a bacon sarnie. Is it really that bad?:smt103

Yep! Had yet another heavy month on the cash (long story- won't bore you with it), and I've barely got enough to get me through the next couple of weeks til payday.

I'm determined to see one month of this year through without running out of cash half way....!

 Dan would end up swapping his bike half way through the rideout and testing out several bikes not to mention the threads he'd start about it. So actually Law is quite correct

Hi Sarah

Me and LeMon are planning on joining you if that's ok.

That's a long as we can get up in time to meet at Dartford Crossing at 8 to get to Box Hill for 9.

Good grief it's a sunday as well. Must really like this biking malarkey!!
