Can you give us a photgraph of your dustbin, please!
what do you want to know?
Whats is like when watching motorsport. I've seen a few in the shops that seem quite blurry around the edges of footballers, cars etc but they always blame it on having twenty TV's hooked up to one aerial. What features does it have that you didnt expect?
Just tell me it's wonderful and the best thing you ever bought! :D

That is balls, some new LCD TV's are incredibly crap quality and not worth £10 let alone whats being asked.
When we moved into our new house we shopped around all over and were bought as a gift a 42" LCD LG with sorround sound, DVD recorder/player and various different mounts. Its been good to date with now problems the menus and functions are easy to use etc. Quality is out of this world and when watching HD stuff on sky etc :o....... Think it was £1700 for the package, although its well worth it if you watch alot of films and enjoy abit of TV from time to time.

the TV is a great piece of kit, the pip function only works with HDMI connected items tho which pi$$ed me off abit, the colours of the samsumg are amazing but you do get a bit of blur (pix elating) on some channels and some programs.

OK, can anyone recommend me a relative cheapy? I've got a rather nice 28" Panasonic CRT but it's too big for the room it's in, I can't get it anywhere where I can see it and the PC at the same time (which is really what it's for). I think I've got a buyer for it though, so I'll be looking to spend around £300, maybe a little more, for something under 28". 24" or 26" would be the ideal really. I know that's not going to buy anything flashy but I don't feel a burning need for the latest thing...

May have also ordered a PS3 to go with it :D
After 2 months of haggling with my insurance company over the replacement tv i broke on the day i moved in i finally picked my new one up at the weekend :D
Originally it was going to be like for like but my old plasma was now defunct, so they very kindly said go out and spend up too £1300 Mr Turner.
So i did, and came away with 50 inches of hi def tv and surround sound...wooohoooo

I really need the car to do 40miles a day, and I'm expected to look smart at work (I wish employers would have a wet room, with a shower + iron) But there's so many costs surrounding owning a car. Tax + insurance + mot adds up so quickly!
I'm so tempted ;)
37" for £399!

As a result of this thread, I went away and watched Strange Days on my old TV, and it reminded me that a really good CRT is still better than an average LCD, and that they cost half as much

yea the picture on my old sanyo was great but the colours and back light still would make me choose the lcd, its hard now to find a crt the shops are stopping selling them.

Yup... I think my Panasonic was one of the last good ones, these days the only ones I've seen in the shops are tat like Goodmans. I wonder, is it a coincidence that the shops were so keen to move to a format that takes up about 1/8th as much warehouse space and costs twice as much? :)

yea makes sence i suppose and judging by the weight of the LCD there ain't much in them, i wonder how much they really cost to make?

Well these days its all about making money.
When i used to work at the pub i worked at for 2 years, a pint of coke, would cost in total 2.75p to make, yes 2 and three quarter pence. We sold it at £1.75

Cant believe it, my boss has just had a phone call...He rents his TV from some place, he wanted to cancel the subscription, and they said we dont really want it back as we wont get it used again... Would you like to buy it for £100 sir? He replied can you call me back please. He spoke to my other colleague asking if he wanted it he said no. The lady calls back, all i heard him say was no its not the price i just dont want it, its too big. I then hear him say with the stand? Gives her the card details Bob's ya uncle, £60 for a flat screen TV, bargain lol.

How's the hanspree? A girl from work here worked for LG for a few years on the factory floor. She claims the quality difference between the Samsung and brandless LCDs was massive. She said in terms of components used and time spent; the samsungs were flawless, where as they were encouraged to work flat out for the cheaper LCDs. Is there any sign of sloppiness? It may still justify the price difference however

29-10-07, 03:39 PM
all i can say is my samsung is brilliant, i'm well chuffed with it and don't regret the purchase at all, as for the hannspree i haven't herd nothing bad about them either but i haven't seen one switched on yet, the new panasonic is meant to be the dogs danglies:)

These new OLEDs will be ace, I think this is why currently the price is crashing for regular HD LCDs

IMHO the quality of the sky through it isnt very good really but TBH i dont sit that close i sit with it at the end of the bed so it looks ok. As for the PC on it, its faultless, DVD's look cool on it which makes me think that i could have sky set wrong. The PIP is great i love it.

I've seen two samsungs, one through NTL one through a digital box. The quality is terrible, especially compared to dvds. Is this just bad set up? It looks really pixelated.

29-10-07, 03:48 PM
sky is grainy if you sit ontop of the tv, the built in freeview is the clearest and dvd's, i sit about 8 feet away from the tv and have no problems with it and like plowsie says the pc is crystal.

chortle chortle.. :) Kwak - Samsung LE40F86. Been saving for ages and want a panel that has 100hz (for the footy..). Also like the styling of the Sammy's so it wasn't too hard to choose this one.. http://www.dixons.co.uk/product.php?sku=156881&camp_id=ppc_tvcamp There are various places on the web where you can get this for about £1040.
