i just opened my emails to find one from the "desk of the lottery coordinator" telling me I've won $1,500,000.00 USD and should contact the lottery (to an AOL email address:rolleyes:) with my full name and contact numbers, so i responded in the following way.
wow can't believe that i've won this, even though i didn't enter for anything, here are my following details:
name: PROFESSOR OF IDIOT UNIVERSITY - DR GULLIBLE MUG
Contact number: 01230 123456
office tel: 999
fax number: 01230 654321
I look forward for you response as i need a good laugh.
p.s. if you require my bank account number and sort code i will be happy to give them to you.

I always thought this sort of thing was done to get email addresses. When someone replies they add it to their "confirmed" email address list which is then sold onto spammers/porn peddlers across the web as a bone fide address.
Likewise the "respond here to remove you from this spam" link also serves that exact purpose.
Advice - don't wear out your keyboard even bothering to respond.

strange that, cos I have a hotmail account too, but I don't get all that crap ... guess it's cos I don't "sign up" for all those "FREE" p0rn sites ;-) :-P LMAO
If you want to see what happens when you reply to some of these scams tho check this out (http://www.silicon.com/research/specialreports/thespamreport/0,39025001,10002928,00.htm)
