Re: The IAM strikes again
In all seriousness, whilst I appreciate the IAM is using one quarter to make the stats show what they want - that is the time when most riders are out, doing the most miles, and at most risk because of the weather, the racing season is in full bloom etc.
The fact cycling accidents have increased significantly is probably to do with more people cycling, and more people cycling more often due to increases in travel costs. You really notice the amount of cyclists out now. Additional education - especially if free, is never going to be a bad thing. |
Re: The IAM strikes again
There could well have been a 7% fall in car use, a 2 % increase in motorcycle use and a 4% increase in cycle use compared with the same quarter last year. These statistics mean nothing if they are not quantified.
I agree with Dave that education is key to reducing collisions, the number of times I've heard "well it was my right of way" after someone has had an accident, seems to say accident avoidance is not top priority in some peoples minds. |
Re: The IAM strikes again
So the IAM spout some useless bollox and MCN report it in their inimitable crap manner... where's the news?
