cheers pete, the swirl remover is pretty much the same as the farecla G4 stuff I have, so  that'll do nicely, I've never used it, but I can now.

you really are a closet polish fetishist:p

Not really Dizz, just love the bike and car and think they look good shiny shiny!

Poorboys Super Swirl Remover to, erm, remove the haze on the paint, then Meguiars wax followed by More Meguiars carnuba wax, then finally, at least three coats of Poorboys EXP Sealant. It's a bit of work, the car gets the same treatment once in Spring, Summer and late Autumn. Both looks pristine after a quick slash and shammy.

Pete

Get you! Are you on the detailers forum perchance;)

Thanks for the info!

Tis a good thing to have if you don't care about looks, and it doesn't look tooo bad if you make sure you align it correctly  Maybe you wouldn't have to stick a huge piece on but just a few smaller bits? Might not look quite so ugly and noticeable then?

Any further advice on the hard wax to apply, any good ones to recommend (no 10k a pot carnuba wax though, I don't own an Astra! ).

Yeah mine got battered in, I found the thing to just fill in the slight markings in the topcoat was half a tin of fibreglass body filler, followed by a few coats of "cheap-$hit" paint in the finest rattle-cans available. Applied in a "in that general direction" style, it forms an almost totally thief-proof barrier.
