I have Bridgestone BT020 on my Triumph & I will be honest & say that I can't wait to get them off the bike (which is tomorrow). They have been awful, they don't inspire any confidence at all.
I listened to what people said & they were tested in Fast Bikes mag, who had them on their long termers, they rated them as well, it's down to personal preference & it doesnt matter who's name is on the lable, if it does the job & saves you money, then why not?

i know tyre choice is different for everybody but no one at any of the local bike shop would recomend them. and since looking on the bandit owner forum most people say they work well in the dry but take along time to warm up and are not as good in the wet,and i know i can get a set of dunlops up to temp in under 3 miles and feel safe when giveing it a hand full so for the sake of £30 why take the risk,

yer theres lot of good stuff made in china and if the spec and build is up to a good standard there aint any problem but as you no they also can make a load of crap sometimes, i know some one who has door locks and door furniture made in china, the first few container loads where up to spec but as they made more and more they went down hill and it was not unusual to dump contaner loads as they didnt even resemble the the original products, and this was/is a large very well known supplyer of door and window hardware

without wishing to sound rude, have you tried maxxis tyres on an sv or asuming theyre rubbish due to the fact theyre chinese origin and your not keen on some chinese manufactured goods?

Yeah ok so you shouldnt believe everything you read on internet forums, but with so many riders here saying the tyres suit the sv650 then surely they might actually be alright.

So some of the bike shops round your way dont sell them, there is a possibilty they are rubbishing them as they dont offer them for whatever reason, and dont want to loose your custom to another shop.

Down the road in colchester, or indeed up from you in wickham market they are offered and fitted.

Your entitled to have an opinion on tyre choices, but slating a tyre that loads of us recomend will only have loads of us saying the opposite and how we love riding with them

yeah but i aint got a sv,apart from my 380 all my bikes are bigger heavier and more hp, and both shops i got prices for tyres will sell you maxxis tyres but gave me a brief discription of each tyre and its price and maxxis was amongst other info lower on wet weather grip according to them, but not that much cheaper than the dunlops i had fitted, and no they wernt just trying to sell me a higher price tyres, and one of the bike shops owners who i got a quote from is a friend and has been in the bike trade for atleast 30 years, and according to both the bike shops and some bandit owners they might be a bit of a compromise compared to the other brands i got prices for and like you said you shouldnt believe every thing your read on a internet forum, your words not mine

Personally I'd rather try things out for myself to see if they work. And if I had wanted a recommendation then the fact that the marshalls' bikes at the IoM TT were apparently all fitted with Maxxis tyres last year would have done for me.

I'll be honest & say that my 955 Daytona is having Michelins put on it today, but for 1 reason & 1 reason only. My son works for a car tyre fitting company & he can get Pilot Powers cheap. I have read good & bad reviews on these, so thought I would give them a try. If they werent cheap I would have certainly gone for the Maxxis tyres again. You can't use a large bikes full potential on the road (in fact you can't use a large bikes full potential on most tracks), so I wouldn't have hesitated using them.
Fast Bikes May edition has an article on the new tyre from Maxxis.
Here is a clip of what the tester said. He was riding the new Kawasaki Z1000s

"Whether or not they’re just a gimmick, you’ll discover in issue 248, but for the time being all I’ll say is that I spent a full day ragging around Portimao (a tough circuit for any tyre), digging pegs into the abrasive surface on a variety of bikes, and generally riding like a loon once I’d acclimatised to their unique approach and feel, and I’m still standing. It’s also worth pointing out these are sports-touring tyres, designed for mileage, too.
We also got the opportunity to give them a thrash on the roads; some dusty, some covered in gravel, and again I live to tell the tale with absolutely no sign of any of the issues that have plagued the brand in the past."

I have had them over a year now & have no probs, mostly dry days only as its a not a commuter.

Thought I would give them a go as they were only £117 delivered!

My local mechanic is now a Maxxis dealer,so maybe word is spreading!!!;)

Re: Maxxis Supermaxx

Actually, just keep telling everybody how bad they are, then the price stays low & then those of us that were brave enough to give them a try will enjoy all of thier benefits :)

Re: Maxxis Supermaxx

I will probably get them next time, unless my dealer has better offers.

I only do a few thousand miles a year so might be a long time yet:D
