no sharp edges = gaffer tape fix.

So your covered for £1500 but your excess is £900 so if you're lucky and get a full payout you'd have a £600 cheque. In that case assuming the bike is only going to cost £200 and you can get it back as a CAT D then I'd buy it back and use the remaing £400 to fix it. You should be able to do it with about £200 left over as well.

Thank you all for replying.

If they sell it back to you for £200 I'll give you £300 for it as is.

They valued the bike at 2K. Scrap value is 850.

You mean they want 850 from you to buy it back?
Thats taking the pith mate.Take the full 2k and buy another bike.Get a nice three year old one for that.

£2000 minus £900 excess minus £850 for the bike you'll have £250 to play with. ^^ is right they're taking the pisch
Offer them £300 and see what they say, a scrap dealer wouldn't give them much more than that for it so it's worth a shot.

You can't contest the scrap value. Only the total value and they rarely budge on that and if they do, they usually put the waste value up with it too.

How much is your excess? £900?

Owenski 07-11-11 09:58 PM

I've never done it so can't honestly comment so ill take your word for it. Ftr i was working with the assumption that the 2k would have been a valuation where as scrap value is more of an estimate ie thats where you'd find your leyway.
